Something not right?

Description

Saw what looked like the remnants of a foot bridge near here. This is on the bluffs on the north side of the river. We were the only ones there the night we camped. Gorgeous views, very quiet.
To get there, highway 191 north turn right onto 162, which follows the river. Just before mile marker 3 there is a cattle guard and dirt road going to a broad bluff off to the right. A loop road appears very quickly on your left taking you out to the campsite on the bluff edge. Only room for 3 or so large rigs out there.

Awesome location near the water. Tons of trash and graffiti in the area which is disappointing. Quiet and tons of space

Nice, quiet and remote! Was able to get my 29ft RV and our large yurt up together in a large campsite with a fire ring in on the bluff although it was definitely tedious getting through on the road trail. Don’t necessarily need 4WD, but definitely better to have a high clearance vehicle. Watch out for crazy swarms of mosquitoes right at sundown and down the road where the path leads to water access (thick and overgrown shrubbery). They were overwhelming and bit a number of us within a five minute span just as the sun set leaving us running for cover in our proper sleeping spaces! Beautiful landscapes! Do be cautious…While at camp and my family was out, i stayed behind and we had a raised Chevy pickup with tinted windows roll up to my camp. I couldn’t see inside and I did go outside and make my presence known fairly quickly as I saw them roll up to our camp. The couple inside quickly chatted with me and left saying they were sightseeing. My intuition had a bit of a scare but they left and went down the road…you can see the camp from many hill tops and even from the roadway, if you leave things behind, I would at least attempt to make camp look actively busy or make sure your belongings are locked up and protected just in case!

Stayed one night here in our 30’ TT & F250, with our 3 King Charles Spaniels. We first took the road all the way down the River and got to a neat spot just a few feet from rivers edge. Lots of brush in between, and it was super muddy so we didn’t walk to River. We felt a little too isolated down there, as the cliffs edge made a little enclave, and with it being a dead end if another camper in a rig our size drove down I don’t see how any of us would get out! We had a real hard time turning around to go back up top. Had to inch back n forth just inches from the cliff walls! Up top is so much better. We stayed at the 2nd to last spot, overlooking the huge river. Stars were amazing! Lots of ground hornets, so be careful. One flew inside my shirt and stung me numerous times, ouch! We would def stay here again!

Stayed here in my Promaster. Nice flat areas. Be careful this time of year. A little sandy. Don’t dig your tires into the ground. Drive slowly. 2 bars of Verizon LTE that barely worked.

Report Check-In

Stayed for 2 nights Definitey take a walk down to the river. Level sites but limited cell signal (both AT&T and Verizon).

Report Check-In

Verizon 1-2 bars; difficulty sending pics and making calls.

As described and a lovely spot for the night. We were the only ones here on a Friday night. It was very quiet and we slept well.

Amazing BLM spot on the river bluff. 1-3 bars of Verizon LTE. Very level, easy road. Navajo Nation land on other side of river.

We didn't stay here - we stayed at the flat spot just above it - but I came down and took some pictures to share. Definitely would not recommend trailers or class A's come down here, but medium sized class C's and even medium-large class C's would probably be fine. Absolutely gorgeous. That gate you see is not locked. They just want you to close it behind you.

Report Check-In

Road in was firm and easily traveled to the bluff. Bluff area is very level and we did not have to level the trailer. Windy at times and hot near 100. Strong AT&T 5G signal.

No problem getting here in our truck w camper. Just as described and more! Can see cliff dwellings across river from this site. Must be private land over there. Clean. Fire pits in place. So glad we could stay. Got two bars on T-Mobile.
