Something not right?

Description

Road past Gomez trailhead in little walnut picnic area leads to some nice turn outs for camping on forest land. There’s a few spots before here. Intermixed with some private road and lands so just pay attention to signage.

Easy access gravel road, 2wd fine. 2-3 LTE bars in places on Verizon or T-Mobile. No Att.

Pretty close to silver city. 10-15 minute drive into town. Good spot! Peaceful and felt safe. Better than Walmart parking lot for sure!

Latest Check-Ins

I think they have shrunk the vehicle zone and now there is just a small patch off the road to stay. Maybe 50 feet from the road at the deepest. The rest is blocked and signed off limits. Don't go if there's rain, you could very easily get stuck. Even the road out had me losing steering control in my AWD RAV4.

Report Check-In

Descent spot not far from town. Some gravel but easy drive. A few pull offs but many with low hanging branches. Watch closely. Not much traffic. I choose here so I can connect Verizon LTE for work. No complaints. Be smart with fires, very dry this year. Area is clean

Just up the road from this location, several pullouts. Peaceful night in the forest. A few locals driving by on FS road, felt very safe, some minor camp trash that we picked up, 1-2 bars Verizon, no ATT. Solid dirt road access. This was a large site (see pics)Standard boondocking site. Would definitely stay again. Pack it in, pack it out, leave it better than you found it. 🙂 ~ Vanpe Diem

if you're deciding between here and the road out to gila cliff dwellings I think this one has better cell coverage and is slightly lower elevation than cherry creek. but the road is dusty as heck. not bumpy just dusty.
