Description

Stayed here a week in summer even during COVID. Clean, beautiful, lots of birdwatching. Groceries in Spalding around the lake. Good Verizon at campground, less so in the residential area about a mile away. Bring mosquito nets for your windows or repellent. Clean pit toilets.

Good spot. Decent cell service, T-Mobile. Clean pit toilets. They do accept donations at the front of the campground, helps with cleaning, otherwise free. Clear skies at night with little light pollution, good for star gazing

We ended up not staying here. I assume it was because of the heavy snow this past winter, but there wasn’t much beach. We parked and walked along the shore exploring and seeing if we could find a decent spot to set up, but we weren’t able to. Plus, our dog had a tick on him after being off leash for just a couple of minutes. Fortunately it hadn’t bitten him yet, and the full tick check came up clean besides the one, but we opted for higher ground.

We just got here. What a great spot! One other rig about 1/4 mile away. And as everyone says, the pit toilets are spotless! We have an awesome spot right on the lake. They're asking for donations. Please do so if you can afford to. Definitely a worthy spot! And I'm getting 3 bars.

Stayed at Rocky Point for 2 nights in my 30ft skoolie. 2 mile dirt road was bumpy but doable if slow for a larger vehicle. Got a prime waterfront spot. Esther the camp host came down to say hi. One and one large 5th wheel also here mid-week.

nice chill BLM campspot next to the eagle lake. lake is not swimsble as its drying up, algae bloom is present. Lots of birds. We stopped for 1 night while on the road. Camp host from neighboring pay campground drove over and greeted us and gave us the lowdown. Big parking area if you have a big rig, easy to turn around etc. Pit toilets. No fires allowed at the moment. Only 2 other campers here. like other said, cleanest pit toilets ever!

This is a great spot! Free. Talked with the volunteer ranger. She said it is important to register so the BLM knows the spot is being used or they will close it. Toilets are clean and have tp. There are several spots. some more level than others. Nicest road I have driven to boondock in a while. 4G and 3bars (4+ bars with booster)

Really great BLM campground right alongside the lake. One of the better spots I've been to for bird watching. I even saw 3 bald eagles while I was here! The lake is named after them after all. The lake also happens to be very salty and is a bit low, even in mid May, due to the drought. I stayed here for 3 nights and had a great time. I would like to point out that there is a donation box at the entrance to the campground. So while the campground is indeed free, please make a donation to help keep awesome places like this open for us to enjoy!

Stayed at Rocky Point West for the night. Not a terrible amount of level spots for a van.
After the parking lot with a pit toilet it turns into a Day Use are. Sites are marked with a rock fire ring. Only saw two others the whole time. Very spotty service for Verizon.

Big Sandy lot with tundra rocks in it. but pretty easy to maneuver around. beautiful view of the lake. plenty of spots along the road to get to the campground. The cleanest volt toilets I have ever seen at a BLM land.

If you drive all the way to the point, there are lots of camp spots looking at the lake. Only one tent here, very quiet. The cleanest pit toilet I've ever seen, freshly painted, well stocked. glad they are maintaining it. Not too smokey last night. great stop.

Cool spot right along the lake. Nice gravel road leading out to about 6 or 7 relatively flat spots. Great view of the lake. Not sure about facilities as we're pretty much self-contained in our 38' school bus.
