Mexico
The road is blocked and some guys show you the possible road - they asked $100. we’d payed $70. you’ve the option to turnaround or pay. They weren’t aggressive, all friendly.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
No roadblocks on our drive through. Hwy 200 southbound is smooth sailing
Report Check-InI think if there is a blockade it’s on 190 not on 185D (toll). Although We didn’t see any traffic backed up to enter 185D. 185D is totally clear.
Report Check-InWe passed at around 5 pm without any issues. Passed again the next day at 10 am, again, no issues. No signs of any roadblocks right now.
Report Check-InNo road block this morning. 9am. Maybe it's better to pass in the morning?
Report Check-InWe arrived around 7pm at this spot and saw trucks stopped and lights flashing for some distance. We followed some locals using a way around it. We were in a Chevy Aveo which just barely made it through without any damage (dry conditions and no water in the rivers).
Report Check-InArrived here at 2pm on a Thursday!total road block. Have been sitting here for the last 4 hours, hoping the protesters get hungry and go home for dinner. 🙏 friendly and no money needed to be paid. As I guessed 7.30 pm they got hungry 🤷♀️
Report Check-InFully blocked, not letting anybody pass through 6pm Sunday. Bummer, we wanted to camp at the lake. It’s on the road into Jalapa, not the main highway in case that’s not clear.
@la_fordtuga
Locals blocked 190 to and from Oaxaca (photo).
we decided to drive the dirt roads around it and got road blocked and asked for bribe twice.
Asked for 200 each time we paid 120. Not the friendliest guys, looks like the love to cash in on whenever there is a legitimate protest..
Report Check-InRelief! 185 is clear both directions. I didn’t see any road blocks on the side road either.
Report Check-InGot us for 450. 50 for drive around then two bottleneck places for 200 a piece. It’s all about how my time you have to sit. They told us it was a six hour blockade. Serious money maker.
Report Check-InRoad is blocked. Traffic backed up. I was told by other drivers they don’t open at all until evenings when the highwaymen go home. I was directed to a bypass by other drivers. Too rough for big vehicles but cars vans and pickups going through. Told there would be a 200p charge for using the bypass. Middle of the bypass it was blocked by local ruffians and they demanded 500p. I paid them 400p as they were getting ornery. End of the bypass they blocked it again and demanded another 500p. After much argument, and me saying no nintendo we settled on 200 more pesos and they let me through. It appeared gringos get a special rate compared with locals but all were being charged to get through. Nothing but highway robbers and to make things worse there was a toll of 60pesos a few more miles down the road! This was our first time during 2 months of travelling around Mexico to come upon this and it was a little unnerving. I would say next time I’d stay on the main route, but 5 hours later and there’s still very little traffic moving past. Just others who took the bypass.
