Something not right?

Description

This spot tends to get super noisy with off roaders on weekends and around holiday times. Between playing music, idling for extended periods next to parked motorhomes while having extended discussions about tires, it's worse than when I boondocked next to Nellis Air Base with jet fighters taking off all morning.

Latest Check-Ins

As described, the ground is super bumpy here with rocks jutting out of the hard packed irregular ground. I stayed closer to the road in my class C. Someone dumped 3 mattresses here, which is terrible because it's stuff like this that gets boondocking spots closed. My Verizon signal is very good here.

The entrance is a little tough but doable. I drive a van with a small travel trailer.

This area is used for recreational ATV purposes, and gunfire is heard here pretty regularly. But, with all of that being said, it's a nice place and close to shopping needs.

Stayed here in our skoolie over the weekend and into the week. Part of AZ land trust so paid for the pass, super easy online. Saw quite a few dirt bikes and ATVs close to the road so some noise but very tolerable lots of light pollution so stars were scarce but quite enjoyed our stay. I could see it being a buddy trap if raining. Dry camping site.

AZ land trust, permit required but only costs $15individual/$20family for the recreational permit (available online instantly)

someone decided it would be fun to shoot off a few dozen rounds at 4:30 AM... not a fun wake up call. freaked out the dog. the spot is otherwise good but apparently being too close to a major metro shenanigans are very possible.

Nice place to boondock for a few nights... Easy access to amenities. Quiet and friendly. Road coming in off of the highway is rough... Gets better, just go slow. Recommend.
Internet connection is slow...

Not a terrible location. Dirt is well packed especially good after the rain. slightly rutted "road trails" leading further back but absolutely doable. big open space. yes lots of trash include mattress and dressers at the time of my visit. broken glass near the campsite location I chose. seems to have some decent hiking trails nearby and close to city amenities. pack in, pack out. 4 bars AT&T lte and 4 bars TMobile.

Yes, some garbage here and there and an occasional ORV, but fairly quiet and several spots to camp.

Report Check-In

Tons of trash and shooting and vehicles rallying around. But it’s close to town. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Great place to boondock. I’ll be backing

Gate is open but the whole plot is empty of campers. Very weird, as the northern phoenix area is full of hundreds of them. If I find out why I’ll update. Staying for a week though.

Edit: This place is empty and sprawling and awesome (and a little dirty?. Other reviews are weird. Stop by and enjoy the privacy.

Gate was closed Saturday evening as well as Sunday morning, ended up sleeping at the very nice place further west of here

Don’t really know why this place gets such a bad rep, we’ve been staying here a couple times in the last few days and have nothing bad to say. It’s a large area where you can find a private spot quite easily - there were usually 2 other people camping, but would have been at least 300m or so away. Some shrubs around, and the road is a faint sound in the background. Very decent considering how accessible it is

This is true recreational land - tons of ATV’s, motorbikes and guns all over, at all times of day. I stayed here for the convenience to town and saw no other campers. 2-3 bars Verizon LTE.

This spot is very popular with off roading,
motorbikes, and recreational gun shooting by
people with poor gun safety skills. It's especially crowded on the weekends. For camping try White Tanks 4 just West of this spot, or other access gates farther West.

very tight gate to get into when you're pulling in off the highway. not many people here, plenty of room to find a level spot.

Report Check-In

Very open place to park next to the highway. I do want to leave a comment, especially for solo female travelers. this was my second night on AZ trust land and I felt super uneasy. there's dudes riding OHVs and random vehicles (not RVs or vans) driving around late into the night. because it's recreational land there's something weird to me about a random person driving in at 2am.... if you pull up and are the only camper and something feels off, trust your gut.

Another spot on Arizona State Trust Land. Accessible from eastbound or westbound. Lots of trails and open spots for rigs of all sizes. 3-4 bars LTE on Tmobile
