Description

Crossing with a Belgian registered campervan, apparently we didn’t have all the right documents for the TIP but eventually the officer did a manual registration which was really nice of him.

Border very easy and quick to cross. Be careful before arriving, if you come from Nuevo Laredo there is the transito police just after a fake 60 km/h sign that will try to extort money from you. This area is indicated in the "Warning" filter on ioverlander. We paid for it and warned the Guardia National

from Mexico to USA, super easy and fluid crossing( thank you for other posts here for the good tips ). Cancelled tip in 45seconds and FMM in 2 minutes. Mexican military did a very quick inspection of our van ( came in and checked 1 or 2 drawers ).
USA side was fast, no inspection, did not asked for any proof of vaccination ( should ask since I am Canadian )

Very easy border crossing. Cancelled TIP as previousely described. Drove to big building....this migration....showed passport and on our way to USA border....we were the only car and whole process took maybe 15 minutes

If you are bringing a trailer full of furniture and stuff to move to Mexico, be sure to inquire at your home consulate prior to the border. You must pay taxes on your stuff. 1000 extra pesos. And the guy was rude. He started throwing our things all over. At least we didn't have to unpack the trailer! Everything else went smoothly. The residency, the tip all good. Took 2 hours. Looks like the X-ray machine isn't working.

USA —> Mexico

We payed a $3.50 toll to cross the bridge then parked in the small lot before the migracion building. At the Migracion office we were given the FMM form to complete before having our passports and our forms stamped. We then proceeded to the Cajero (Banjercito) to pay for our FMM (558 Pesos each or $58.55 for the both of us) and to complete our Temporary Import Permit. We provided a copy of our vehicle registration, driver’s passport, and driver license. We were asked to write a phone number and email address on the copy of the driver license. The cashier printed out our TIP, had us review/sign it, then we payed ($59.16 since our van is classified as an RV). We payed everything on our credit card. Upon completion we returned to our van, affixed the TIP sticker to our windshield, then proceeded to the vehicle inspection area. The entire process took about an hour due to a line at the Cajero, only one of the three teller windows was open.

Going into Texas the booth to drop off your TIP is located at 27.6949295, -99.7492008. He will give you a receipt then you need to go to the building up ahead on the far left at 27.6978387, -99.7489912. Enter the building and get into the line on the left side. You will need a photocopy or your passport and drivers license and then you will receive your deposit back. You can then drive through the toll booth and go through American immigration. Took us about an hour on a Sunday afternoon.

Report Check-In

We crossed at a Sunday around 9.30AM, almost no one else, no line, officers were all friendly and helpful. Convenient crossing as everything is located in 1 building next to the bridge (can’t miss it). Would pass here again!

USA --> Mexico

Crossed here mid-morning on a weekday on my motorcycle. I needed to get a temporary vehicle import permit (a.k.a. TVIP or TIP). The entry process took maybe half an hour total. Migracion, aduana, and banjercito are all in the same building complex. I don't think even one other vehicle crossed the whole time I was there. Extremely quiet border, and the Mexican officials were all friendly and helpful. Two soldiers did a quick inspection of my saddlebags before I rode off back towards Nuevo Laredo on MEX 2. Unless something has changed in recent years, I highly recommend crossing here rather than at Laredo.

From México to USA.

Very comfortable boarder crossing, no lines. Before paying the bridge toll make sure you have canceled your TIP (little booth on the left) and stamped out of the country (big building on the left).

Don't do what we did and after getting the vehicle inspected you drive away because they tell you you're good. You need to park, walk inside that building and get your Visa stamped (through right most door) then if you need a Temporary Vehicle Import permit, that's through the middle door to the Banjercito. We literally drove away after the inspection thinking the paperwork part was up ahead and were driving down the Mexican highway. We decided we had to turn around and try to get our paperwork. So yeah, no one forces you to get your paperwork, you need to do it on your own. The inspection and car x-ray were a breeze, really quick. We have a Sprinter camper van. I would go through this crossing again.

If you're going from Mexico to the US the spot to cancel the TIP is a little shack right before you pay the toll. It's really hard to see - we drove by it and had to turn around at the U.S. customs. You don't need to pull off or park you just pull up like a drive thru on the left hand side. Other than that took us 20 minutes to get over the border, only cause we missed the TIP spot.

this was a great place to cross back into the USA with only 5 other cars here at 10am on Good Friday. Our van wasnt searched and the process overall took about 30mins or less.

We cross this border today. No problem and very easy. One hour to go out of Mexico and to enter in Texas. Autorisation for the motorhome is not necessary

Report Check-In

Got to Mexican side of border at 5pm, there is a vehicle permit station on the left hand lane closer to the border. Signs are well posted. Tried to turn in permit but had a discrepancy with the numbers on our pass so had to go into the banjecito office further up on the left. Was able to park just to the right of the big sign near parking. Walked to the office got our issue resolved, turned in our visas and drove over to the American side. We were stopped before arriving to an agent, my passport and rv were American, my boyfriend was German so they had him and our dog get out and walk to the office. They instructed me to go to the right where the trucks enter. The agent sent me to get X-rayed then up to the docks for further inspection. They brought a k-9, did a manual search, had trouble with our propane tanks, sent the rv to a secondary X-ray. Meanwhile my boyfriend was approved within 10 mins, let out then picked up by agents at the gate he was waiting for me at. The agents took his passport and put him in a room while they waited for the rv to be released. After 3hrs I was given an ok and was good to go, picked up my boyfriend and our dog at the gate and drove off. Everyone was friendly and easy to deal with which was greatly appreciated. Best border crossing for RVs!! Lots of space on either side to park and handle things. They are accustomed to rvs so they manage it all pretty well.
