Parking area off Hwy 238/west Maricopa Rd. we did not stay the night, but lovely hike on wide trail with the pups. Did not say no overnight camping and clearly some had evident by the fire ring. 3 bars Verizon. Road was not super busy.

Wide open, fun place to explore. Late evening arrival so didn't get to explore for a perfect campsite, but previous mention of barbwire is incorrect! It's merely a gate, surely you have seen them before? Pull off the top tension loop, pull away, enter your vehicle, and reclose the gate.
Yes, close to the entrance is a little noisy with trains and highway travelers, but go deeper into the the area and it's much quieter!
Quite a bit of noise from the highway and the nearby train tracks - didn't bother us during the night, but we wouldn't want to hang out here during the day. There are more remote campsites up the road/trail leading into the Desert.
That said, we had a good night.
Report Check-InThis is just a parking area next to a now closed dirt road. However, it is legal to camp up to 14 days, which is posted on the sign. it's a pretty good place to do an overnight if you need to get in or out of south Phoenix.
