Latest Check-Ins

I came at sunset to watch the sunset and stay overnight. There were 3-4 local families enjoying the sunset. They left when darkness set in. A few cars stopped here and there.
Yhis place is very windy.I had to leave at 9 pm as I got concerned about winds gusts and capabilities of my Ali Can roof top tent. It is clam type but it was just too windy. It was not worth risking the damage.
There was no Claro or TMobil (usa) signal here.

I stayed here for five nights. There were some locals by the river. But they all left at sunset. Nice and tranquil place to stay. The weekend is quiet too. Bath in the morning in fresh river. It was all good, great place to stay for night.
You can stay here and do all the adventure activities at Hacienda Guachipelin and hike the trails at Rincón De La Vieja National Park. Please see the pin that I put in io for entry to Hacienda Guachipelin. It list in detail all the things you can do in this area. This is a very safe area.
You can also walk to Don Rafa from here and hike La Leona waterfall. All the local workers walk from here to Don Rafa tours.
Claro cell signal is great.

one of the Best spot we've done. fresh water, and sunna all day. Felt safe!!!

Pleasant and cool river. It's nice to soak up the salt after nights by the sea. We were there on a Sunday afternoon, it's popular with the locals. For the night we settled in the grassy area near the fence, it was quiet. The hacienda guard does his rounds during the night, he is very friendly.

Fit our tall Ford Transit van in here right next to the river. Super peaceful. We even got chilly at night. Perfect for sleeping after hot and humid nights in the van. Maybe three potential spots to park next to the river, but there is lots of space just outside the trees if you need sun for solar.

Water is cold and refreshing, perfect for a bath or skinny dip when nobody’s around.

No problem accessing during a major rain.

Very nice place with a natural source of water.
A lot of locals were here to swim but they left nearly 5/6pm.
Very calm all the night we just ear the sound of the water. ( - a lot of bugs )

Free nice spot on the blue river. After some days in a very hot beaches from Guanacaste, we got this fresh air. We spent one week here, others overlanders and local people around. High recommended if you want take a break to the hot weather.

Nice spot on river, excellent swimming hole that locals use. Can technically walk from here along the river and up to the falls if you wish but the guides show you some cool stuff.
You must walk through Don Rafas but we stayed there as well ($5 excellent place) so they may frown on that.
Great spot, needs clean up. Locals come, yet leave garbage thrown around at such a beautiful natural place.
We did a clean the first day only to see more garbage the next. Education

MAGNIFIQUE! Directement au bord d'une superbe rivière. Rafraîchissante, eau claire et agréable de s'y baigner. Quelques locaux de jour qui ont quitté à 17h. Nuit très tranquille.

Beautiful! Directly at the edge of a superb river. Refreshing, clear and pleasant water to swim there. Some locals during the day that have left at 17h. Very quiet night.

Great place to stay. You can swim in the river and camp in some spots under shay trees.

Quit and peaceful!

Great spot. We were alone there, super quiet night. Farmer made his round with flashlight after dark, didnt bother us.
There is no water in the rivers and no need for 4wd. We made it easily with our low clearance fwd minivan.

Report Check-In

Great spot! Several options for camping by the river. Someone (probably the farmer who lives there?) walked around the fence to the private property twice at night. Shined his flashlight over at my rooftop tent but didn’t say anything.

really nice place to stay for night. Still some trashes all around.
the river is nice for a bath, we woke up with monkeys. A lot of birds.
It s better to have a 4x4 yo cross the first little river, the second one is easy.
A farmer went to check who we are but he was nice and wished us a good night.

We slept here one night. Very quiet place, just the sound of the river. In the morning we woke up with a little swim in the river. We didn't see anyone else, unfortunately we did see other ones trash.
We came here with a 4*4 car, especially the last rivercrossing was very muddy at that moment.

Stayed here while looking for a free camp in the area. Nice spot to swim an chill, people left after sundown and us not too busy on a weekday. Make sure not to cross into private property since the owner is armed, no need to tho.
4wd access may not be needed on the summer, just a bumpy road.
Please pick up thrash even if is not yours!

Report Check-In

As described very nice place to stay overnight, as well to swim and chill. People left after sunset. Recommend :)

Report Check-In

Very quiet place, road is a bit bumpy to get there and there are 2 tiny rivers to cross. Still fine without a 4WD. Looked like a nice place to swim, we met some locals but no one at night or in the morning. Very close to Rincón de la Vieja so very practical!

Report Check-In

Beautiful place next to the river. The water is clean and you can swim. No noise , no reception. It looks like the kind of place that is really busy during the weekend, we were there on a week day and we were the only ones. Super nice.

Report Check-In

Very popular during the day, it's very clam during the night with some animals.
