Latest Check-Ins

I came in to check it out and didn’t stay but can report it’s a really nice small California State Park! The lake is full most times of the year, according to the caretaker and the park seems very well managed and run during the day. I would guess there is the possibility of rowdies on weekend nights however, the sites are very well spaced. I will definitely try it in future! 4-bars Verizon!
Also, there are two large parking spaces on the outside of the gate which apparently can be parked in for free if need be for whatever reason 😝

Report Check-In

Very nice primitive sites- table and port o potty $20 a night- Right in the water- kayaking and fishing are excellent

Report Check-In

This is the Medeiros Campground - Primitive and it’s not bad for a night. Pretty area, basic camps, some have tables and trash cans and fire pits. It’s $20 a night and it’s first come first serve on the spots. There are sani cans available. Lots of dogs, we had ours too. Popular spot for fishing. Some loud people. We think we heard coyotes at night. Big open sky. Lots of trash though.

Report Check-In

This place is great! Potable water, plenty of rubbish bins, basic toilets. Spots are big, could fit a few cars and tents. All on the lakes edge and have a fire pit, grill, bin, and sheltered table area with space for 8 people easy. No hookups. Good AT&T signal. Lake is really mild at the moment, quite windy down here, beautiful sunset. The ranger at the office was so friendly and helpful! Highly recommend for $20.

Report Check-In

Place seems nice. The sound of the water is much louder than the distant traffic.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campground with a lot of spots at the waterfront. Basic, couple of porterpotties. First come, first serve. $20/night

Report Check-In

As described, washrooms, garbage bins, primitive shelters and picnic tables right on lake.

Report Check-In

Great primitive campground at the edge of the water along O’Neill Forebay. $18 for seniors, $10 for an extra vehicle. The sites are huge and not well defined. Quiet! State Parks staff at the entrance kiosk were very friendly.

Report Check-In

Great spot … lakeside spots w your own fire pit , grill and picnic table and trash can. Porta John’s all around and are well maintained. Fresh water available for drinking and cooking… not a hose hookup though. Sign at the gate says pay $20/night but there were no envelopes and when we say the ranger in the am, he didn’t ask for a fee. Stoped on way out to pay and no one was at the shack… so it was free! Highly recommend!

Report Check-In

Great spot, few people in late January on a Tuesday night. Right on the lake. Only about 9 miles off I-5, well worth it.

Report Check-In

Dry camping by the reservoir. More campers here than a couple months ago.

Report Check-In

Quiet places (about 10) around the reservoir. Pit toilets, concrete-protected piccnic tables, first-come with envelope system. Paid 18$ being over 62 y.o. Nice and quiet for a night.

Report Check-In

Good cell. Pretty nice view. Very windy. A bit of trash in most spots, bit not too bad. Not sure if it is worth $20, but the location was convenient for me. Some people were fishing at the lake.

Report Check-In

Garbages cans around camps were empty and had been changed recently it appeared..if your just looking for a single night or just a place to sleep this will work fine.. Our rv is 19ft sites will fit larger..

Report Check-In

great place to spend the night highly recommend it. I only saw one other camper and they were quite a ways away. very quiet peaceful place. campground is a bit rustic but loved my stay there. $20 a night, $18 for seniors 62 and older. but there was no rangers at the booth and no envelopes to make a payment with when I was there.

Report Check-In

Boondock camping by the reservoir full of birds. Pretty and calm. Only a few campers and a few people fishing. $20 minus $2 for seniors.

Report Check-In

Quiet, clean and clean easily accessible spot to spend the night and get south of the Bay Area morning traffic. Remember windsurfing with my Dad here back in the day.

Report Check-In

Quick access off of I-5. So wonderfully quiet. It was dark when we arrived so it's hard to say what morning will reveal but I am mostly looking forward to a quiet sleep!

3 other campers here. tons of space for privacy.

Come morning a few vehicles went by on the road. outhouse is very clean. garbages were emptied. from last reports, this place seems to be receiving more attention on maintenance! Lots of waterfowl, low fog. I would stay here again!

Report Check-In

Nice and clean and beautiful view.
Lots of big fishes playing in the water teasing you to catch them.

Report Check-In

Nice campsites right by the lake. Boat ramp is blocked off but we launched our kayak right at our campsite. Lots of birds, ducks. Some trees for shade, picnic tables, ramadas at most sites. Good Verizon signal 3 bars. $20/night, $2 senior discount.

Report Check-In

Regardless of the phone info, or the website. They are open for campers during covid as of 4/28/21. US20/night. It’s worth it

Report Check-In

Place is cool. Come here nice for fishing

Report Check-In

Despite other comments, I absolutely loved this place! Paid only $20 (no dog or other extra fees!). Had the place to myself- complete tranquility right on the lake. Many clusters of campsites great distances apart; some with long stretches of beach, some trees for shade. Total privacy! For those wanting to avoid the masses, I highly recommend! So much better than the 2 other lake campgrounds I stayed at further south.

Report Check-In

Nice quiet place to stay the night. Paid entry fee before campground and asked if they really close the gate at 7pm...she said they probably wouldn’t close it, but we thought that was odd.

The bugs are bad. The trash is terrible...so much food and bottle caps everywhere. Someone missed while using the pit toilet and left their mess all over the seat...the next morning before we left the maintenance truck rolled through and did zero cleanup.

This really should be a free campsite or tops $5.

But, an easy stop if traveling down I-5

Report Check-In

Lots of campsites all around the lake. Not very well maintained but pretty much the only place in the area. Good cell service. Quiet.

Report Check-In

The fee is now $25 to camp. Stayed here for the night to get some shut eye on our way up to Oregon.

Report Check-In

Basalt campground:
Nice shady trees, large sites with picnic tables and fire rings, water. The area is often very windy but this campground has the most wind protection. Nice quiet campground on a weekday.
Stopped here traveling south on I5.

Report Check-In

Pretty overpriced for what it is ($20) and you would think the California State Parks would maintain this better considering what they charge. We’re self contained so I won’t be checking out the pit toilet. Lots of bugs. On the plus side, we’re the only ones here so it’s very quiet

Report Check-In

Simple campground on the lake and a good overnight place when traveling south.
We had a very windy but quiet night here so I can see that garbage gets easily blown around here on a busy day.
For us it was clean. Water from lake only.

Report Check-In

Nice, simple spot to stay the night. Camped right in the lake and had a great sunset. Lots of wind but we still had a good stay.

Report Check-In

Don't go here, exept for an emergency. There's trash everywhere, even though every campsite has its own trashcan. So there are tons of ants, because there lots of food on the ground. Very disgusting pit toilets and thats all. All of that for 20 bucks! Never again. Definitely don't come here if you're afraid of spiders. Our whole car was one giant spider web in the morning.

Report Check-In

Nice primitive spots around lake. Very quiet at night. Easy place to break up long highway 5 drive across CA. $20 a night.
