Something not right?

Description

Vast guardian parking in the Palmeries Valley right next to the town of Tafraoute. Cassette-emptying in a designated soak away just to the right of the main parking area. Fresh water brought by a lorry daily. They will fill your tank plus any bottles, aqua rolls, buckets etcetera for a fixed price of 25MAD. I had over 220 litres one day in various receptacles. Beautiful setting surrounded by mountains. Town is fab, every shop and service you could wish for and cheap. Had a full van respray and bought blankets, shoes (6 pairs of leather ones for £21). Vendors come to site selling bread, meals to order, cakes, honey, oil, solar panels, windbreaks you name it! Stayed 9 days in 2015 and 34 in 2016. Sad to leave.

Latest Check-Ins

Place is open again!
As per locals' information, there have been some issues with the police, but these had been resolved already weeks ago.

15 MAD per night, all kind of services (bread, fresh juice, crepes, Tajine and pizza, gas, laundry, water) to your door-and apart from that, the place offers a VAST ground and a stunning (and even unique) scenery and atmosphere.

REMARK regarding the gas supplier:
As we experienced ourselves, they say they will fill your Propane bottles with Propan only (which is as per our experience here in Morocco now very difficult to get except in 33kg or bigger bottles).
However, they indeed mix it with Butan (with Propan, the flame is blue, with Butan it is orange; now ours is a mix...;))-generally it works fine, but pay attention and try the flame when the service man is still around as as they otherwise charge you for Propan only (it is more expansive than Butan)! Otherwise, the service itself was fine.

There is also a Café/Restaurant with an enclosed Camping/Hotel (Auberge Tagtout) on the back side of the place, a bit above in the hills, where you can sit on a really nice terrace and enjoy a lovely view and various local dishes. Also very nice staff.

We spent 4 nights in the parking, absolutely quiet except one night where there has been some event in town with loud music ect, but as they finished around midnight, it was not too bothering as per our opinion.

Would go again immeadiately!

Big space for all kind of Vehicles. Campground near by was too full for us and very small.
We paid 15 DIR and gut a ticket. Should be quite but when we arrive they had a marriage and very loud music 🥁🥁🥁coming from the town until 4:30 in the morning.
Anyway we wish all the best.

We saw max 10 campers on a place which offers space for 200.

Despite of the music it is a fantastic place and thanks to apple air pods we could sleep quite good 😀

Stay here for several days in a camper van. There are a lot of vehicles of all kinds, maybe over 100. All official campgrounds seem to be overcrowded now, so it makes sense to take a spot
on the fields north of the town.
Recently there is a public and modern sanitary station that takes black and gray water for no extra fee.
Lovely place, great views.

Report Check-In

okay stay for 15MAD, at the beggining we were quite disapointed with tafroute as it took as 7 hours to get there with our old van, we then visited the market and met the nicest people so far, need to say this is not a “van valley” we are the only van at the moment and there are probably like 150 RV’s, havent seen anyone below 50s not to say 60s, not complaining just so people know what they will find. Nice hikes around if you like it, if not, not much else to do around here apart from chilling and visiting the market.

Report Check-In

As per previous reviews this is our 4th stay here. Price has increased to 15 MAD per night. Water lorry still comes round. Possibility to empty cassette at Granite Rose campsite just up the R104 for 20 MAD.

Report Check-In

There is no black waste disposal on site. People are emptying cassettes into an open pool of sewage about 50m from the edge of the site, next to a path, there is no cess pit. We've been advised Camping Granite Rose will empty cassettes for 20 Dirhams. A huge shame people are showing so little respect for what is an incredibly beautiful area.

Here for the third year running nothing changed. Price still 10MAD per day water lorry still arriving daily. Vendors of everything on site or town 10 mins walk.

Report Check-In

Lot of works in progress in the city thèse days, and close to the entrance of the park. It's possible to enter but tough if low clearance vehicle. Looks like it is a municipal area. Price 10 Mad per night.
