Description

Customs control at the border. They will direct you to Caceres to get your TIP. If you are leaving Brazil you will need to do your paperwork here. Since mid-December 2015 Brazil reintroduced TIP/TECAT (Termo de Concessao de Admissao Temporaria). It is valid as long as your visa. If you don't get the TIP here you have to get it in Caceres. This is customs only, immigration/passport stamp is at the Policia Federal in Cáceres.

No TIP ( leaving or entering Brazil) on weekends!

Staff très sympa et il parle le français. Même si on a dépassé notre visa de 7 jours, aucun problème pour sortir sans frais. Mais il serait bien de ne pas revenir avec ce véhicule !

We entered Brazil from San Matias, Bolivia and were instructed by the military at check point to process our TIP for our vehicle at this office. When we arrived the office was out of power so they couldn’t do our TIP but told us to do it at the Receita Federal office in Caceres after we got our passport entry stamps at the Policia Federal.

Note that going into Brazil they will ask you to do your paper work here. On the way out, you need to do it here. It's open from 9-17:30. I don't know if they take a lunch break (most likely).

Met Auditor Fiscal Orlando Machado, very nice chap, spoke no English or Spanish but we understood from him that normally he would process our TIP here, but today his system is down and we'll have to do it in Caceres. He printed out a doc with contact details of customs and passport control offices in Caceres for us. The addressed he gave us match those already marked in ioverlander.

Not sure what they are doing here for you if you ENTER Brazil in your own car. Unless you have been through migration (Policia Federal) who decide how long you are allowed to stay, the Aduana cannot prepare the TECAT form for your car because they don't know for how long it should be valid. Federal Police is in Caceres, though. However, in our case they were very helpful because Aduana in Caceres is closed Sat & Sun and it was Fri 16:30. They provided us with a TECAT for 30 days because Federal Police would allow us to stay at least 30 days in any case (and we do not intend to stay longer anyway). Federal Police in Caceres are open Sat & Sun, too, so we did not have to hang around until Mon.
