Small pull-off with campfire pit. We have a 26’ RV and a much larger rig would fit. This spot was probably about 3-4 miles along the route. Probably 2 miles from the BLM sign. Road was washboard but didn’t require 4 wheel drive. It was very dry when we were out here.

This was a great place to spend the night, we wished that we could spend more time here, but stop on our way east. Large area with multiple sites that you could pull off to set up dry camping. Follow the dirt road up into the rocks, or even more views of the flats below. About 10 minutes from the raceway, so I’m sure gets busy at times.
Report Check-InBunch of spots in the area, I camped just below here. Weekday, nobody passed by while I was camped out. Nice spot with views of the salt flats and you can see i80/ the train which is neat. 10/10
Report Check-InWashboard road, but worth it; you can do it. Can see I-80 in the distance, but can’t hear them. It’s cool to see the headlights and taillights in the distance going for miles. It’s the perfect setting for a country song.
Report Check-InMany places to pull in along the Silver Island Mountain Backcountry Byway. We stopped just east of this location for a bit more seclusion. Up a gravel spur road few hundred feet from the Byway. No problem for us with high clearance and 4WD. Beautiful view over the Slat Flats with cliffs behind.
Report Check-InSpent one night here, and another night at a spot nearby. Dirt/gravel road was easily accessible in my AWD Impreza sedan. Google Maps routed us weird, so we followed the road on Gaia GPS. There is a fire pit, but there is currently a fire ban in place. Not the most level spot, but amazing views. Felt safe enough as a solo female traveler with two dingos. If you have smaller dogs/cats, watch out for the large birds of prey that have nests in the cliffs. Follow us for more dog-friendly BLM camping! @KangaAndTheRu
Report Check-InSpent one night here. Very quiet location and just four miles on a dirt road off of the main road. The dirt road was a bit washboarded but no other issues. Fire pit still there although we did not use it. Beautiful views. Try yelling something towards the mountain side / rock wall right behind you for a fun echo back to you! Very clean with no litter and we hope everyone keeps it that way. Enjoy!
