Dispersed camping along the CDT Trail. Just off route 197 BLM land. The road is a little rough but it is passable.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Dry desert lot. Quiet. Nice sunsets. Dry. OK cell svc. My dog liked it!
Report Check-InGate was open (unlike gate on north side) so we stayed here. No one else around. Very quiet. The road had a few ruts in it and one time our trailer jack scraped the dirt. Slow and easy does it.
Report Check-InNo problems, cell service along the road but not 200 yards in. Plenty of spaces, no problem for my sprinter.
Report Check-Ini didn’t quite make it all the way. i camped in my 22 ft motorhome just after the cattle guard entrance and closer to the highway because i had more cell service here and needed to catch up on some work.
i’m not sure if there’s cell service at the farther coordinates listed, but it is nice to be farther from the road and stealthier.
my rig was very obvious from the road (highway?) but i had no problems whatsoever. there’s absolutely no place to camp for free in Jemez Springs in the winter so this is the best option if you’re headed to chaco canyon!
