Description

Fantastic place run by an Italian lady Valentina and her dad. They have nice bungalows, spot to park your rig and if you want you can pitch a tent. Camping is around 1000CFA. They are currently building a shower and toilet. There is a yoga hut, you can book a massage and if that is not enough they serve most likely the best (Italian) food in whole Guinea Bissau.

PS: every Sunday they have pizza and oyster day!! Beach about 15 min walk. Varela village 2min walk and fantastic for a stroll.

Fantastic place to stay in Varela. The price for a double bungalow is 18000, for a 5 people bungalow is 28000 with a really good breakfast included (scramble eggs, papaya jam, butter, bread and coffe). Bungalows are pretty and very well decorated, everything is super clean. There's a big comfortable space with tables and chairs.
Franco, the Italian owner is really kind and helpful, the same as the rest of the workers.
In rainy season the track to get to Varela is quite difficult due to the water and the mud but duable.
Nhiquim, the beach nearby the village is unbelievable, the track to get there is sandy but easier than the one to get to Varela. It's full of good spot to camp there.

Nice huts with en-suite bathrooms, electricity and running water. At the end of the dry season no problem to park inside (no grass anywhere, everywhere dry dirt). 18.000 CFA per night incl breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Not a camping, a hotel. Owner didn't want us to come in with our Hilux, thought it would ruin the grass. Offered to let us park outside the walls in the village. Decided to go to beach instead.

We went there with our truck camper, pretty exited about eating some proper italian food, but the owner didnt wanted us to park our vehicle inside the property cause he was afraid about the weight of our rig (how can damage his yard basically). In fact it is not a proper camping but more a bungalow renting hôtel kind of place. There is some spots for a tent or maybe they will even let a smaller 4x4 staying overnight but that is not very private... (in front of the terrasse of the restaurant). The owner was not mean to us at all but it felt like he didnt really wanted us there... so we left and went to the beach how is really lovely. The path to the sea is sandy but not that difficult. If you havent already deflate your tyres for the previous piste, that would be the moment ;)
