Description
Stopped at checkpoint here and got shook down by police looking for a bribe. Tried a couple of different tactics before getting me on the date of insurance (which, lesson learned, starts the day after you pay for it… ugh). If you’re reading this, don’t make the same mistake I did and give cops along this road a reason to extort a bribe from you.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.

Report Check-InWe were stopped here for a regular control and had to get out of the car. They then searched our car and STOLE 40 USD OUT OF A WALLET we told them to give it back and after some discussion and threatening to call the embassy they gave it back. I attached a photo of the thief but they were all in on it since he gave a secret sign to let us go once he found the money

Report Check-InWe were driving in the direction of Cartagena and were stopped by the police here. There were about 10 people there, one of them a woman with a camera on a tripod. We had to give them our car license and driver's license, then they told us we exceded the speed limit of 30 km/h and we had to pay 500.000 cop. Only after demanding to see the proof, they talked to eachother for a while and told us they would make an exception, and we could go on our way without paying. Seems like a bunch of corrupt cops indeed.
