Description

This is the starting point and carpark for the walking track to the El Cañi private reserve. The main walk is around 8.5km one-way, and takes you to a great mirador with a view of four volcanoes. There's also a small 2.5km track around a couple of small lakes once you reach the plateau (before the final climb to the mirador). Park entrance is $4,000pp, and the staff are very friendly (and the park maps are good!). The total ascent is around 1200m. Would definitely recommend!
no dogs on the trail allowed!

Interesting hike but not as impressive as other around. A long steep climb monotonous climb (first 1,5h on dirt track, only once you're past km 4.5 does it get a bit interesting as there the forest trail starts) that takes you to a viewpoint where you can see 3 majestic volcanoes yet it isn't breath taking.

Price still 4.000 pesos pp.
The trail just reopened after a storm. You can see (and climb over) some traces of that at the last part of the climb. But well accessible. Really recommend!

We agree with all the info transhumances.eu mentioned. Just for your information: it took us 15 minutes to get by foot from entrence to parking lot.
The trail to mirador with all Araucarias arround is beautiful. Great views.

Everything is already said! 4000 pp, friendly staff, the give you a very good map of the trek with a lot of infos on animals and plants. You can park for free here or avoid the first km of the walk by parking at the next entrance, but there it's 3000 for the car. The first part is not really fun, it's not a path, but a very steep dirt road. Once you reached the Refugio, you really enter the Sanctuary and here it's very nice. You'll go up through the forest to some lakes and then the last steep part to the mirador. The view is really great! We had a totally clear sky and could sea 4 volcanos: Llaima, Lanin, Ketrupillan and Villarica. We had lunch up there, wow! You can find water on the way.

We did the hike and we were so disappointed !
First, it is a sportive hike, really steepy, so be mentally prepared. We took 3h30 to go to the top.
We didn't find the view as amazing as we hearded, we prefered lots of point of view from other parks.
But the real problems is that is suppose to be a sanctuary preserved. But it's not. There was cow at the top, near the lakes, that also means cow poop everywhere and on the trail too... All the lakes were green, maybe it is because it was the end of summer so much dry than the other period.
And we saw two families with puppies up there too. We really don't understand...
So yeah, the effort to go to the top is not worth it, and the price too (4000pp)...
