Something not right?

Description

Your basic National Forest Service campground in the woods beside the Lochsa River. $14 gets you a site that might or might not be level, a picnic table, fire ring and pit toilets with no toilet paper. Thankfully the sound of the rushing River drowns out the highway sounds though there isn't much traffic at night.

We ended up here as all the other sites along the river posted here on iOverlander were occupied, mostly by kayakers. And due to Covid almost all the other campgrounds are closed. Forest Service roads were also still closed as of June 4, likely due to snowpack.

This tiny campground is no good for any rig larger than a pickup. No water other than the river. Knife Edge campground 4 Mike's east in Hwy 12 is much larger, same price, and has a sewage dump that is free.

Small, US Forest campground. Picnic tables, toilets, along the river. $14/night - $7 with your senior pass. Beautiful trees, shady & green.
Only about 8 campsites.

Plenty of room for our 22 foot camper van. (Site 5)

Perhaps the previous comment about no room for more than a pickup truck was mistakenly referring to a campground west of here which definitely had tiny un-level sites?

We would have stayed a 2nd night if not for the wildfire smoke.

Report Check-In

Only 3-4 sites, but pretty (in the woods) and close to the river. Peaceful. Like others said, pit toilets with no TP. But there is fresh water! I’m glad I stayed the night.
