State forest land, dispersed camping is therefore free. There are several open areas just off the sandy trails throughout the forest land. Be mindful of the boundaries, the state forest is not very large. Fire pits are minimal, usually a hole dug in sand. There is ample firewood to be found. Cell signal is non-existent in the forest, but just out on the highway it is usually available.

Nice areas and clearings for set up. You’ll find the occasional shotgun shells and trash around, but nothing major. We were able to find a clearing surrounded by trees, and about 100 ft in diameter. On the northern side of the forest, there were little cacti all over the ground, so not a great area for those with pets, but none found on the southern side. Easy driving in and out, wouldn’t recommend a 5th wheel or anything crazy large.
