Description

Just off CO-9 on Williams Peak Rd/FS-200. The first 0.5 mi or so of this road is BLM, then private property before it turns to NF about 2 mi in. Road to here is easy for all vehicles but the road gets worse/more rutted as you go. We drove the 0.5 mi to the end of the BLM and there was only one more small spot past this one on the left. This is a large parking area just off the highway and has space for several vehicles. Seems popular with OHVs, but was fairly quiet on a Monday. Fire rings, some bones, and evidence of shooting. Decent spot and less crowded than the rec site a few miles south on 9. Very faint/no highway noise. No cell signal on Tmobile or Google Fi.

Latest Check-Ins

Good and empty on a Friday in June. Large open space, 1/4 mile from the county road with two fire pits. There might be more sites in the national forest 2 miles in but that gate is closed seasonally through 6/14.

Many mosquitos, but they are large and won't get through any netting. Also very muddy in case of rain. Some OHV activity. There is some noise from the road but it's not too bad.

This is a good backup plan for when the campsites south towards Frisco are full.

No cell service on Verizon.

Report Check-In

If you pull off right off the highway, there’s an area where a few people were camped for the night, but if you continue to follow the BLM road it’s completely rutted and was impassible in my Honda CRV. Had to turn around and find a different place to camp.

Report Check-In

Decent spot. Dropped in to get out of the maniacal weekend traffic.
