Description

The road leading to the trailhead has a few flat turnouts with a gorgeous view of Hebgen Lake—no “no” signs, but unclear whether it’s private. Trailhead itself is flat and shady with plenty of space for multiple rigs. Equestrian friendly. There’s a creek nearby as well. No amenities. Full cell service.

Latest Check-Ins

Stayed here at the trailhead sign on a Thursday night. I was alone. It was beautiful, quiet. People on horses started showing up early in the morning. I left early. There was unfortunately evidence of others who hadn’t respected the spot. Keep it clean, folks! Also - pretty sure I had a visit from Sasquatch in the night.

Some of the photos in the description are not of the turnaround at the trailhead.
I will try and add some photos of my motorhome and a truck with a horse trailer. This is US Forest Service land. It is not private property. That being said, I spoke to a US Forest Ranger here at this spot. He explained to me that it is permissible to camp, but the (Horse trailers and horseback riders) have the "right of way." At no time can you block the horse trail. On the east side of this turnaround, a dude ranch runs guided horseback strings through every day.
You can not impede their business.
This spot is a balance, show courtesy to the local horseback riders by giving them plenty of room.
Today I offered to move my motorhome up to ensure the horse trailer could turn around, and he tried to tell me I couldn't camp there, when I explained that the ranger told me I could yesterday, he changed his tune. When I told him I understood he had the "right of way" and I would move so he could turn around, he became friendly.

perfect and quiet spot during our stay at Yellowstone National Park (no places in camping)

Report Check-In

Spent the night at the trailhead in our van, one or two other spots along the road were occupied by tent campers. The very first spot is snowmobile only so pay attention in the dark. Only saw one other car pass us here. Sign reads to keep camp clean and not block access for horse trailers. The spot here already had a rock firepit. Very beautiful location, close to the Yellowstone entrance with enough signal to FaceTime family. It's remote! Bring bearspray!

Excellent spot. Just 1mi of typical dirt NF road off the highway but feels tucked into nature yet open enough to see stars and charge solar. Excellent cell service and super close to west Yellowstone.

I’m shocked I’m the only one here tbh.

We stayed in the first pullout in the road in our van. Saw a sign that said “no motor vehicles” but we were not bothered. Held elk calling in the night and the views of the stars was magical! We would stay here again

Stayed here multiple nights on and off last weekend and again this weekend. Had the place mostly to ourselves. Some locals in trucks came by around 8 pm being loud and drinking but left shortly after. I assume because my generator was on and was pretty loud when standing outside.

Camped at the trailhead lot. I’ve never seen or gotten bit by so many mosquitos. Made a fire to keep them away in the fire ring and solved the problem. Stars were absolutely insane, such good views. Perfect spot for a day or two. I’d definitely come here again.

Great spot, the elevation is a bit higher here so it's not as hot as other sites in the area. Fast Verizon service. Quiet at night and not super busy during the day. The road is in pretty good shape and posed no problem for my skoolie.

Report Check-In

Pretty crowded when we stayed here put the people who had been here 2 days before said they had the place for their self then.
Easy Road, enough space for 4 to 5 cars, relatively flat, enough forest to pee.

Report Check-In

As described. Peaceful, lots of forest area around trail head. Rangers station said ok to park here overnight.

Good site at a trailhead with a couple of level spots. Google Fi gave me 45.9mbps download and 2.43mbps upload speeds on 5G. The road in was pretty good in an SUV late May.

Great place to stay with amazing views. Good cell service and spots for several rigs. We stayed for 4 nights and loved it.

Report Check-In

Great spot. Had the whole road and trail head to myself. Took the trail up to the lake around 5pm. About 1.8 miles up 1200' elevation gain. Great run back down. Watched lightning storms roll across the hills at night. Woke early to head into the park and the stars were sublime.
