This is a great free boondocking site, and can accommodate several rigs. There is a pit privy. Operated by Montana Dept of Fish and Wildlife. Good place to stop on the way to Little Bighorn Battlefield. Sometimes smells a bit swampy. Quiet when we were there.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Perfect for and overnighted on the way to Little Bighorn NM. Right beside the river. Some traffic noise from Hey 313. Some locals were partying on Sunday afternoon when arrived but departed before dark. It is quite busy with vehicles arriving and departing regularly. Was not disturbed by anyone.
Report Check-InNice spot. 2 day camping limit - says only camp in designated spots but I don’t see any so parked parallel to the river.
Pit toilet (which is very clean!) and a couple of trash cans which is nice.
Boat ramp also.
There are a couple of piles of dirt so looks like they may be getting ready to re-grade and fill some holes.
big rig friendly- we brought our 38 ft
very level ground
not a difficult road at all
there's a bathroom (I didn't use it)
no hooks ups
we used our not too quiet generator without a problem.
great stop. beautiful view. has 2 day max sign. has public bathroom.
Report Check-InOnly one other neighbor, so we had decent privacy. Some litter, mud, and tall grass, but the pit toilet was clean.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot. We were all alone after dark. A few locals came to fish in the evening. River is nice and spots were pretty level.
Report Check-InOk for a free spot. Room for maybe 2-3 rigs. The camping area is separated from the fishing area. There are trash cans and a pit toilet. There is pretty consistent road noise. We were easily able to get our 40 foot fifth wheel in and parked right next to the river. It is very convenient to Little Bighorn Battlefield. We did hear a couple gunshots during the day but could’ve been hunters. Heard 11 more at 1:00AM too close for comfort. 2 night stay limit.
Report Check-InLooked good when we pulled in….. however….
Local guide came by on 4 wheeler and advised on not camping there! Told me a few stories of incidents and so we left!!! After hearing him recount tales of this place, I definitely would not camp here!!!
As described. No bad smells, no trash. You can hear road traffic and the river. Cell signal is OK. No one else here.
Report Check-InI have stayed here a couple of times and have not had a bad experience. The area was cleaned up of most trash, the pit toilet was as clean as it can get and stocked with TP. I car camped in a FWD Hyundai hatchback. Visible phone service 3 bars.
Report Check-InThis place is ghetto, sorry. It stinks like a dump station and there’s bottles and trash around. I may not even stay the night. I will report that AT&T cell service is very weak but Verizon is extremely strong with about 35 Mbps download. I’m gonna have a beer and think it over but it’s not gonna be on my favorites list, that is for sure!
Report Check-InNice place, different areas, easy access, two loops. One away from bridge is on the river. Cold dip on 100 degree day!
Report Check-InDon’t let google talk you into taking the shortcut down the gravel roads. Use the paved route 313! Two designated spots but nothing indicating where the spots are so we camped by the boat ramp where there was some shade. Lots of traffic over the bridge but pleasant breeze from the river. Stayed here for a night because the battle field was closed by the time we arrived. Saw nobody but one other camper. Mostly clean but the privy was locked. One bar T-mobile.
Report Check-InPleasant spot to hang out by the river in the evening. Good level camping. Pit toilet was locked. Plenty of cars going by on the paved road 50 yds away but not a bother to us.
Dissapointed in the amount of trash all around. We picked it all up. Then a few pickups and an ATV came by (parked at the other end and did not bother us) thru the evening and night. Next morning there was a new stack of trash, fast food bags, cups, wrappers, and alcohol bottle. Clearly a locals drinking hangout and they don't care if they trash their own place :(
Report Check-InGood place for a quick pull off to sleep. Near the road so you hear cars but it’s not busy. River sound was a nice counter to the cars. Dirt road only at the location. Paver getting to the location. Be careful with Google maps, it kept changing locations on us
Report Check-InNice quiet spot. Few locals fishing. Off the major road so should be a peaceful nights sleep.
Report Check-InQuiet, next week to the river as described. Spent some time collecting trash.
Report Check-InArrived pretty late, so it wasn’t super busy. A few people camping for the night, but I found a place to pull off away from them. Light car traffic.
Report Check-InGood for tents and up to medium rigs. Gravel road is mostly smooth with a couple large potholes turned to ponds- easy to navigate around. Road noise during the day, minimal shade, boat ramp, average pit toilet, some litter. FREE 7 day limit
Report Check-InCamping definitely allowed here as announced by State posted sign and, yes, one can back to the river at several places. The far end is superior. Close to the road but a low traffic area. The river sounds cover it well. There is an outhouse but no trash cans. Pick up a little extra trash when you leave.
Report Check-InGreat little spot off the road. We were able to pull in the back away from the entrance and right on the river. Has a bit of road noice but a great place if you want to be out of the way from interstate!
