There are several pull-outs and secluded parking lots next to the historical mine in Ely. The mine is interesting but poorly advertised. We were fortunate to arrive when the mine was staffed with a volunteer, and he said we were welcome to stay in any of the lots. You may tour and donate to the museum, have breakfast or dinner at the restaurant across the street, and even go for a swim in the lake. Please do not trash or abuse this prime location.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Parked by the boat launch, seems like a popular spot for locals. Had a handful of cars drive through throughout the night. Volunteer at the museum (a great tour!) said he didn’t mind people parking overnight, but it is technically not permitted by the city. No “no overnight” signs posted. Do with that what you will.
Report Check-InGreat hidden gem. We drove past the entrance to the mine (which does have parking spots) and turned right at the public water access sign. There are two more big parking areas closer to the lake which has fishing docks and easy access to a bike/ped path that takes you into town. The mine has lots of cool historical markers to read. Across the street is the Grand Ely Resort with a nice restaurant and it’s on another huge lake. Very busy during the day with mostly locals walking dogs and playing in the water but it gets quiet at night. Where we parked in the first lot was very level. There’s definitely room for multiple rvs.
Report Check-InAs described from the other reviews. It always makes me nervous and don’t want any door knocks. Please keep it clean so we don’t loose it.
Report Check-InAs described a few good spaces at boat launch just past mine entrance, very quiet only hear the birds, policia rolled through at about 2000 and didn't hassle so no worries, only person here on a Saturday night
Report Check-Instayed one night. super quiet. no amenities. level parking lot. Beautiful sunrise!
Report Check-InStayed just past the entrance to the mine lot down in the boat/water access area. There are 3 separate parking pads, 1 even has a charcoal grill. No one bothered me but there were fisherman in trucks from sunrise til sunset so if you’re a lighter sleeper, I might opt for the mine lot. It’s also right on a 3.75 mile paved loop trail around the lake which was great for walking my dog.
Report Check-Ingreat spot with water access nearby.
no toilets at the parks but may be due to the season.
Great spot in a quiet area of a nice town. Farmer’s market on Tuesday evenings in the summer. Quiet place for rest and plenty of room. Free!
