Parking lot for a local swimming hole in the kettle river. The short dirt driveway down to the parking lot is a bit rough, but 2wd accessible - a bit tight for big rigs though which can still park on the pull out beside the road. Pit toilet available. Plenty of fun cliff jumps, competent swimmers only!!
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Nice parking area beside the Kettle River Heritage Trail. Small dirt road from highway takes you to the parking area. One other van camper stayed the night. Cycled the trail in the morning. Not recommended for big RV’s
Report Check-InDifficult to find the turnoff from the highway. Right next to the "Christina Lake" billboard and pull-off. We almost missed it (twice)
Report Check-InAs the previous post says the road in is a little rough but go slow and no problem. Plenty of room for rigs here and no issues staying over night. The trestle and canyon are very scenic. The road is a little tricky to see from the highway but look for it just slightly west of turn off for Hwy 395.
Report Check-InStayed here one night. Quiet, nice little place. Everything that needs to be said has been said below. Water was a bit cold to swim in, but a short walk down to the river and a nice sandy beach nearby. If you're nervous about the cliffs you can follow it down a bit for a calmer, more shallow part of the river.
Had a couple other people staying there while I was there but lots of space. A few people coming and going in the morning with bikes for the nearby trails.
The turn off hwy3 is just west of the turn for the American border. The road down is quite lumpy. Wouldn’t take a low car down it easily. Large lot, somewhat flat. You could fit several rigs easily. It’s on the Trans Canada Trail so great access for biking and walking. It’s above the river with spectacular views of the gorge on both sides of the trestle that spans the river.
Report Check-InGreat location on theKettle Valley Trail. 19 km to Grand Forks by bicycle or hiking on old rail bed west. Great spot for a night with pit toilet and bench to overlook river near tressel. Old lumber mill of ghost town of Billings was also located here. Cemetery up on hill across hiway.
Report Check-InParking lot with a pit toilet, flat with plenty of space. Stayed here 1 night no problem, no one else here.
Nice little area to sit for the evening if you walk 2 minutes down to the river.
Report Check-InGreat spot to stay for the night. Close enough to the river to hear it and not the highway. The road to get here is slightly bumpy but 2wd accessible. Toilet located close to the parking lot.
