Description

This is the right place to stay. On the gravel just before the Yosemite sign. Nice place when you want to go early to the park.

Latest Check-Ins

I got the knock for being where I wasn’t supposed to be and the nice park ranger sent me to this spot. Good for an emergency but not nightly as it gets packed and there are no spaces.

Report Check-In

Closed at the moment due to road construction!

Report Check-In

We parked beside the road.. a lot of RVs and cars overnighting there. We sleep there for a night and it was ok. almost none traffic during the night, but in the begin of afternoon a lot of cars going to Yosemite.
The place is besides de road exiting Yosemite, and just ahead of Yosemite gate, before some hotels.

Report Check-In

bon emplacement
prévoir d arriver tôt ... très prisé
nous sommes arrivés à 20h45...et juste pour trouver une place
beaucoup d autres fourgons
fait le job et à proximité immédiate du parc

Report Check-In

plenty of space, stood here one night with about 17 others. right at the road, people are racing to get in the Park, very noisy. worst sleep in a while, someone honked their horn at 4:40am and woke me up. 30 min drive to park

Report Check-In

ample space next to the river. some traffic with people leaving or entering the NP, but it's about as close as you can get without being in the NP

Report Check-In

Overall - Quiet after 10pm, convenient and excellent for vehicles of all sizes.

Parking - room for many vehicles large and small. Saw a full sized schoolie and several RVs, vans, cars. Space for about 15-20 cars. Several people parked beyond park sign as decent spots are full by 7.30pm and OK spots by 8.30pm on weekday. River roars and is full and is a good white noise for sleeping.

Network coverage - spotty LTE coverage with 1 bar with T-mobil
Washroom and potable water - nope, but you can use the ones (flushing) at park entrance Station 5 mins up the road which also has a water fountain.

Report Check-In

Stayed for several nights, relatively flat ground, can get pretty full on weekends.

Report Check-In

spent two nights memorial Day long weekend so very busy and becoming a popular spot as close as possible to Yosemite that's still free because wild camping in Yosemite isn't allowed, if staying on weekend get there early evening to avoid disappointment, merced River is pumping so lots of rushing water noise and occasional late night honkers, still convenient spot for day hikes in Yosemite, patchy reception (T-Mobile)

Report Check-In

Arrived just after dark on a weekday and it was just about full. I parked on the right as leaving the NP - in the morning saw a sign with regulations for parking there but nothing about not being allowed to. I was the last to fit in a dirt pullout with 3 others. The other side of the road was full with a line of maybe 10 or so. People definitely did honk as they drove past- mostly in the evening. I was one of the last to leave in the morning at 8:30. Very convenient if you can’t get a camp site in the park and are headed in via 140!

Report Check-In

Spent two nights here. Parking on both sides of the street before the official Yosemite sign (parallel on river side; perpendicular on other side to make room for others) Please Leave No Trace, including human waste, so this space stays available!

Report Check-In

Noted from previous camper arrive late, leave early we pulled in right before 10 pm. There were easily 15+ vans already parked. Took some maneuvering but found a spot level enough that had us off the road and not blocking anyone else in. Easy and accessible to the park entrance

Report Check-In

Stayed here last night and had no issues. Had 5 other vans with us. Good spot but it is right on the road. Pack it in, pack it out, arrive late, leave early and we should be able to continue using this site into the future.

Report Check-In

Spent two nights here. As others have described, it's a busy street. Super convenient location for Yosemite though. Felt safe. T-Mobile service is very iffy (maybe 1 bar for a couple minutes every so often), so I'd not count on cell service here. Surprisingly though, a lot of the park has pretty good service, so you should be able to do anything needed during your time in the park.

Report Check-In

This is the right place to stay. Lots of vans. Its okay for the night, quiet a bit of traffic.

Report Check-In

I confirm... There was at least 10 campers / vans / cars in that area. Some big rigs seem to think that the place is a camping (park on levels, awning out , chairs, tables, generators and diverses accessories). There is a sign saying that no parking from 10 pm to 6 am but I think it's tolerated. Yosemite is a huge park and even when the campings are open they are always full months in advance. And in low season there is only 1 open. You have to expect car passing from 5 am to 9 pm. The entrance is about 5 minutes away from that location.

Report Check-In

definetly no "no-camping-signs"! What the last user said is wrong.

Report Check-In

NO PARKING SIGNS EVERYWHERE

Had to drive all the way back to midpines to find a place to sleep

Report Check-In

I spent the night on the big pull out just before the sign. I was pretty levelled. Super noisy though: Traffic dies down only from 11pm to 4am. Only 5 minutes to the park gate, so super convenient when you don’t have a reservation and need to be in the park before 6am.

Report Check-In

stayed here one night and no problems. we were not level but still slept just fine. probably 10 othet rigs or so. some people driving by did not like us being there -honking and flipping everyone off as they drove by.

Report Check-In

We stayed on the little pull out on the left side of the road, when going to Yosemite NP, place for 4-5 vehicles. Just next to the road so it's quite noisy. No t-mobile service coverage. Good option as free spot just at the entrance of the Parc.

Report Check-In

This place can get crowded! All the pullouts on the 140 on the way to Yosemite have multiple signs saying “no overnight parking” this spot consists of about 3 large pull off areas, with no signs at all. On the weekend nights it can get very crowded so come early! Stayed 4 nights while on a trip to Yosemite and wasn’t bothered at all here, felt very safe with all of the other vans/ rigs around. The El Portal chevron gas station bathrooms seem to be open all night too- the gas station lights are turned off, but the bathrooms are on the outside and I used them at 10:30pm with no issues!

Report Check-In

We couldn't find any Campground available but saw several vans parked here. We visited the park and came here a couple of nights just to sleep. No one bothered us. More than 10 cars/vans overnight here. It's just outside the park sign limit.

Report Check-In

we haven't seen any "no parking signs", lots of camper in the row, fits 15 to 20 cars and vans, less if big rigs, every typ fits, quite at night, first cars et 6am, the river is loud, in Front of the yosemite sign, it filled up at 6pm, full till 8pm end of march

Report Check-In

On the left side of the road right before you enter the park. There were a few vehicles here tonight. A couple vans and then a couple smaller ones plus my promaster. 1 bar Verizon w/ slow LTE

Report Check-In

at this entrance to Yosemite there are pull-offs on the right side driving into the park by the electronic signage but there are “no parking signs”. however on the left side there is a small but wide patch that can fit a couple of vehicles and camping here seems perfectly OK because there are fire restriction signs and a trail inside the pullout and a noticeable absence of the “no parking” signs that plague the other side of the road. we stayed the night with no issues
