This is near one of the entrances to Rum River SF, just a pull out on the side of the road with a small fire ring. There were more spots further along the road but this is fine for the night. Less than 1/4 mi off pavement down a nicely graded gravel road. Not the biggest spot but probably long enough for a 35' rig. No signal on Tmobile or Google Fi.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
had a sign and the gate closed saying the road is closed until further notice. the sign was dated in February so it's been closed for almost 2 months now 😭 maybe for spring thaw? not sure when they would open it again
Report Check-InGreat spot here. I've been here 3 days and only one car went by on my first day. Other than that, it's a nice quiet spot. There are many pullout with fire rings you can camp at, however, the one I'm at is through the ditch, up a hill and your set in the woods.
There is a fire ring up here as well.
4x4 only. No trailers at this particular site. there are plenty of spots if you have a trailer or large RV.
As described. Multiple roads with multiple pull outs along side the road. Some with one bar Verizon, some with two. I parked at end of one road. Many with fire rings some with wood left behind as well. Several visitors drive by, Sunday afternoon. The usual flying bloodsuckers and a swarm of baby frogs, afraid to walk on woods trail for fear of swishing many. 😳
Report Check-InNice area with large gravel pull offs. stayed 3 days. during weekdays almost no cars drove by. weekend gets a bit busier with folks checking out the forest. roads are well maintained.
Report Check-InOnce you’re on Game Refuge Rd, there are a bunch of turnouts and several side roads that also end in little turn around where you can stay. One of them even goes next to a little marsh and lake. Check out a satellite view and you can find many other spots to sleep in this area.
Overall, we love it. It is a very quiet, no road noise especially if you go back a little bit, and the other people sleeping around here have been great.
Not the best for tents, but it can be done.
there are a couple pull offs that you can camp in along this dirt road. we stayed in the first one at the given coordinates. not a lot of traffic on the road and it was pretty quiet. we stayed 2 nights. quick note, the mosquitoes and other bugs were plentiful in this area. we had to invest in a thermocell from the local Walmart.
