Something not right?

Description

A bit of a weird place. There are a total of perhaps 10 dispersed campsites. It is written that you find your campsite, set up camp and the ranger will find your and, at this point, I am not sure what happens. I stayed the night and no one showed up. I left in the morning h. There is a vault bathroom, a fire ring and a camping table. The area is kinda flat. Not big rig friendly.

Fabulous free campground maintained by UPPCO. Easy dirt/gravel roads to access, a few pot holes which could be tricky when it rains. Around 25 spots located around the lake (see map). Pit toilets, fire pits, picnic tables, beach access, level sites. 14day limit, permit required. Locate an open site and a ranger with come by and issue permits. 3 bars Verizon/1 bar AT&T

Stayed 1 night in E22; great site. There was no one else around and the store where you're supposed to register was closed, so I just stayed and never did register. I was fine with my 21ft Winnebago Travato on Ram ProMaster. a couple low-hanging branches on the way into the sites; the road wasn't any wider than my vehicle so couple side branches on way. Plenty of clearance at the site and it was level. Mosquitoes were swarming; recommend having a headnet.
A local friend did mention that they've had some issues there with folks trying to more or less live in the campsites but I saw no evidence of that in my brief stay. Be sure to go to the Bond Falls Scenic Site to view the falls.

This is owned by UP Power Co. All reviews are accurate. I would like to add that off road vehicles are prohibited. Signs state that this cg will close October 15 for the season. Right now, the warm autumn colors are on fire. Gorgeous! There are even 3 island sites that one can paddle to with fire pits and a ‘rustic latrine’.

Cute, tiny Barclay cometary is worth a visit!

Stayed here a couple days. The east side is much nicer as far as views than the west side. The mosquitos were so bad we couldn’t really enjoy much. Hardly could go outside because of how bad the mosquitos were. Being by the water and the wind helped with the bugs. Had service with visible (verizon towers) but not t-mobile (even with a cell booster). We would stay here again if it was colder out to keep the mosquitos away. We have been full time traveling for over a year and we had never encountered mosquitos this bad. The locals did say they were pretty bad this year.

Great sites for free! I came in at around 10pm, left the next day at 1pm and never had a ranger come by with a permit. Beautiful spot right on the water

As mentioned there's 22 sites around the lake. Awesome camp spots, so amazing they're free. On a Friday afternoon a ranger did stop by my camp spot and have me fill out a form with address and name and posted on the camp post with the date I'm leaving. Very nice, she said she can't believe the number of solo female travelers that have been through the area lately and loves it. My camp spot was by some big RVs with noisy generators, but still good privacy and flat ground and feels safe. It's hit or miss with cell reception. Beautiful camp spots. Pretty easy well maintained dirt roads. You'll know the camp spots off the main road because there are little brown sign posts with camp spot numbers. An outhouse and trash can at each "hub" of camp spots. And each spot has picnic table and fire ring.

There are 22 campsites dispersed around the lake. The signs say you need a permit but I talked to a local and they said it's free, a Ranger will just come around and give you a pass. That never happened to us but didn't have any trouble at all.

Awesome lakeside free dispersed camping. Sign says to pick an open spot and then report it to the ranger, but there is no ranger station. We were told they would stop by to check us in. A bunch of sites all around the lake, we picked one close to the falls because it was raining and empty. Firepits, pit toilets, and picnic tables were available. Stayed at E21, good, big spot.
