Description

dirt pull off near magnolia rd. All of Magnolia Rd is very steep and curvy and can only accommodate vehicles up to 30 feet long. A few campsites along this dirt pulloff. Turning around a trailer may be impossible. very peaceful nights sleep here, it was incredibly quiet at night. nice vistas as well. stayed here as all the campsites on gross reservoir were full. nice secondary location if your trying to camp at the reservoir but its full.

following the gps. the road is on the righthand side before you get to the signs. the leave no trace big foot signs looked to be gone. it's steep coming In. and there was a camper rv in the first spot. I took the second. there's more if you keep going however you need 4x4 and high clearance. my 4runner is lifted. arrived at night. will update in the morning. quiet though. and 3 Bara of t-mobile.

Beautiful. Had to drive through an intimidating large puddle, but I made it. not many sites, the road is surprisingly short. Beautiful views. Weird bugs.

Couldn't make it in our rig. Ignored the 30 foot warnings. We are about 36 feet, and I think we would have made it, but I am towing with just a half ton truck and the road was too steep to make it up. We stalled out most of the way up the mountain and I had to BACK DOWN with the trailer like half a mile. Then driving down my brakes overheated even taking it as carefully as possible. That was scary, but luckily I have decent practice driving the rig. Fortunately there is a pull off shortly after turning right coming back out of magnolia road. Stopped there for my brakes to cool off. Wore down my new pads at least 30% though, and had to flush my brake fluid. Don't make my mistake, I will never forget this.

Road navigation apps will take you to the wrong spot for these sites. If you see a sign that says "Bigfoot can do it - leave no trace" and "no camping", go a couple of hundred feet east (downhill) and you will see a steep dirt road entering the forest on the same side as the sign.

There are several sites here. The first couple should be accessible to most vehicles. The rest require high clearance and probably 4x4.

There's very limited room to turn around. Short wheelbase vehicles only (vans/trucks up to about 20' should be OK with a spotter and/or caution).

A couple of bars of Verizon and AT&T signal but when I camped here the speeds where very low (2-3 mbps) even the signal was pretty strong with my booster.

Report Check-In

No camping signs at pull-up. Did not stay.

Magnolia road is a beautiful drive, don’t let the steepness scare you from this amazing camp site. Even if there are other campers you are far enough away from them that they aren’t a bother but if you want to hang out with them it’s close enough for that too. Recommend vans and trucks.
