BLM area off dirt road. Plenty of room for pull-thru and turnaround of large rigs/trailers. Fire pit in center. Generally level ground in some spots.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
There’s some small caliber brass near the fire ring. That and the obvious heavy use suggests that this is a spot for locals on the weekends. But, folks have been cleaning up this space, and it is a beautiful spot with La Sal Mountains in the distance. Stayed here two nights. I was alone.
Report Check-InAs described. Larger overlook with room for multiple rigs as long as your friends, 2-3 vehicles if you don't know the neighbors.
Some beautiful views down the cliffs.
As other have said. Negatives; broken glass and swarms of noseeums. Please do the right thing and pick up as much broken glass as practical.
Positives: Great views and had the place to myself.
This is a great alternative to paying for camping in Hovenweep monument. Very clean, spacious, nice views. Weak cell service. There’s another spot a bit further down the road on the left, if this one is occupied. I’m guessing that the hill on the approach is challenging in wet or snowy weather.
Report Check-InDon’t follow google maps. Just keep going down the road until you find the first red dirt road on the left. Down the hill from wild camping are more places. However the hill is horrible going down.
