This area is the site of the old town of Birch Island. It is now a conservation area. From Happy Valley main road, turn right at the El Greco restaurant. Continue to drive until the end of the road. Go under the big gate and cross the bridge (no sign about the maximum weight). Here is the parking with a nice view of the Churchill Falls River.
On Saturday night, some locals came. A security guard car came a couple of times to check the place. They didn’t say anything.
In this place you will find picnic table (some are covered), garbage and trails.

beaucoup de place, belle vue, ça circule in and out mais quand même tranquille
Report Check-InBeautiful spot by the Churchill River. Lots of room to park our RV for the night. Busy during the day due to the great boardwalk. Gets quiet when the sun goes down.
Report Check-InSuper spot. Everybody was happy to see our dog. We were very welcomed. Only one other camper on a Friday.
Report Check-InOvernight RV/car parking is not permitted here. Not sure about tents though. If there are any questions in regard to any camping their phone number is (709) 896-3321 and they are extremely helpful!
Report Check-InWe parked in the lot by the river (i.e. drive over the bridge to get to it) - beautiful view of the river from the parking area. Quite a few locals come to walk, fish, kayak, etc. - they like to park close to the river, so we parked towards the back of the lot where it was quite level. The 5+km boardwalk along the river and through the woods & marsh is great for stretching your legs. A two night stay in Happy Valley-Goose Bay is ideal so that you can spend time in North West River (the Interpretation Centre and Heritage Museum, plus a nice beach are all worth going to North West River for). We boondocked at Birch Island park for one night and in North West River for another night.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot, but quite busy.
EDIT: We talked with a local, and they don't mind people pitching their tents on the grass, which is what we did.
Report Check-InVery Nice place we stayed 2 nighits to visit aroundTrès bon spot, sommes restés 2 nuits et avons visité les alentours musée militaire et jusqu’à North West River. Belle plage baignable
Report Check-InLarge level gravel parking lot near river. We stayed 2 nights in late June and there were no other RV's overnighting with us. Busy in the evening with local using the trails, quiet after dark and overnight. Good ATT cell signal while roaming on Bell. Lovely boardwalk trails.
Report Check-InFantastic little spot. Slept overnight here. Lots of friendly locals.
Security drove through parking lot and didn’t even blink an eye.
Spend 2 nights here without problems. Nice locals and the Boardwalk is good
Report Check-InDrove in through gate and over bridge with our 16 foot travel trailer, no problem. Nice view of the river. Water level is low - people using SUP. Grassy area with picnic tables, picnic shelter. There are no signs about camping so possibly someone could pitch a tent. People are walking and jogging but only until sunset.
Report Check-InEndroit proposé par le centre touristique. Belle endroit près de l’eau. Propre et tranquille. Sentier sur place.
Report Check-Ingood place with nice view. close to the laundry. a bit busy with other campers and people come and go. no problem.
Report Check-InBig gravel lot surrounded by grassy areas with picnic tables and the river on one side. No signs prohibiting overnight parking though I just stopped for the view and to eat
Report Check-InLarge flat gravel lot right by the water at a city park with trash and walking trails. Park seemed well maintained.
There were 4 other campers spending the night along with us and locals came by to walk, jog and enjoy the park.
Access to parking area crosses a narrow wooden bridge with no noted weight limit so big rigs may not want to attempt.
Good cell LTE.
Place as described. We were there on a sunny day on Tuesday and it was not so quite. Lots of locals who parked here for the walks. Later in evening also a meeting spot for youngsters ‘playing’ with their cars.
Pit toilet available.
Lady in visitors center told us it was no problem to overnight at this place. Also as next to visitors center with has electric outside to use (and wifi)
