Description

This is free street parking outside the official museum parking lot. Very peaceful for street parking. Lots of visitors come with good energy to visit the assassination site of MLK. I have a very discreet pickup truck and stayed for a whole day and night and had no problem.

The coffee shop/bar across the street called Dough and Hustle is a great place to do some computer work all day with free WiFi and spacious beautiful seating.

The BBQ place on the other side Central BBQ is a local favorite. It was quite good.

Was going to park here outside a gated apartment block. We saw a couple of other vans too parked on an incline. But a gang of teens tried our door handle and all the other cars on the street, so didn't feel entirely safe. Went to Bass Pro instead.

Quiet free st parking. Very safe feeling. Saw one other camper. Did not overnight but did not see any signs prohibiting. Decent spot to walk to downtown. Maybe 15 minutes or so to Beale.

Just went there and was welcome by a lady of the neighborhood telling me I can't stay there for the night since it's a neighborhood. She asked for the app where I found the info. This place will probably be permanently closed. Went at the Bass Pro Shop instead, the road noise is not terrible, I've seen worst 😉

Fairly quiet, one other camper on the block. There are plenty of nearby streets too with free/unrestricted parking. Nice location to check out the museum, get BBQ, grab a coffee or hit some boutiques.

Report Check-In

Street parking which was surprisingly quiet. A few people walking around but very little traffic for being at this location. Sobering experience visiting the Civil Rights Museum but strongly recommend it.
Parked beside museum parking lot with the Lorraine Motel in front of us.

Sloped to the curb, but we put our jacks down on the curb side to level.
Walking distance to downtown.

Wonderful and meaningful to wake up and experience the area around the Lorraine Motel. Even though the civil rights museum was closed the part that is in open spaces tells the story well. Pretty quiet overnight with one other camper.
