Description

Tent camping on the beach!

Park at roadside, 300ft walk to beach. Lots of room to spread out. ~10 other tents tonight.

Creek is dry. No reliable water source.

Saw hundreds of tiny frogs by the pond and some dolphins off shore. A few surfers and a few day trippers.

Great spot with our two year old.

No phone service on Google Fi.

Amazing spot to tent on the beach, however it’s going to be closing for a couple of years starting around April :/ let’s take good care of it when it reopens, it really is a gem!

Really cool place to tent camp!! Usually we sleep in our van but camped on the beach because it sounded fun. Not a lot of level spaces to park on the road, but plenty of parking on the side of the road. Stayed on a Friday night and it was very busy, but enough room for everyone. Lots of people playing music, talking loud, staying up late, and having fires - which are technically not allowed but no one monitors. Loud trucks drive by in evening and morning. Ocean waves are a nice background noise. Pack all trash out! PS there’s not a lot of privacy around to go to the bathroom and it seems like the spot under the big tree is a popular pee spot.

Southbound roadside has one spot that’s flat enough to park for the night. Northbound has enough flat room for a couple vans.

Please be respectful and keep this place clean and open.

Met one of the locals dogs in the morning, it was wandering around. Didn’t meet the person but could hear them calling from up the driveway.

Stopped here twice, northbound has more room to move off the road, barely.

There are a few pullouts from here south for a couple miles that don’t have any signs.

PCH is closed just above ragged point and that makes getting here only possible from the south. A really great result of this is no road noise and lots of open spots. The best spot is under the big tree as it provides shade and blocks the wind. The creek is flowing right now but I’m not sure if the water is potable. Bathing in it was nice though. Free camping on the beach.

Perfect beach camping spot. Fairly long walk to beach and campsites with minimal parking along the road. Some spots had tree coverage to block out the pretty high wind. Posted signage saying no fires/stoves though we and other campers have never had any ranger sightings here. Cool river and cliffs and had few seal sightings. Very good spot considering no fees

unassuming trailhead. parking was full. hwy 1 is really winding. tents only, no cell reception. minimal trash, no trash bins. keep it clean.

Really popular spot (probably increased with weekend), but super understandable given that this area is beautiful, unique, free, and quite large. There was still room for everyone to spread out and have an enjoyable time. Hit this spot for sure!

Lots of other people stayed here over night with us and camped in their tents. Quiet and a beautiful sunset. A bit windy but there are also sone more protected spaces, where you can put up your tent. Would definitely stay here again!

Pretty nice large spot. Definitely tent camping only, plenty of spots for tents on and near the beach. Couple other folks staying here when I was but everyone was quiet and respectful. No LTE on AT&T but plenty of bars. Pretty far from any fairly priced beer, groceries, and water so I would definitely recommend bringing all you need with you.

Great place for tenting on the beach, limited parking on highway 1. Favorite spot. A few others there in tents.
