Something not right?

Description

Follow road into the trees. You will pass through a short area of private land, but quickly re-enter National Forest. You do gain some elevation from the valley floor. The road is in good shape. Larger cobble, but very navigable. There are many sites to camp and several that are flat enough for larger rigs. It’s dry camping but you cross a stream on the way in. I would assume that there is pretty endless amount of camping for those who don’t need amenities. I stopped here in search of good cell service to Hot spot from and work remotely. I had full 4 bar LTE VZ service. There is some live stock grazing, but wasn’t heavy when I was there.

Latest Check-Ins

The road can get a little rough but I was able to navigate it with 2wd. There are several shaded spots not too far from the highway

Report Check-In

As described in all of the previous reviews. Although I might add that, I would not bring a big rig or a trailer up here, unless it were one of the smaller rugged overland types. Definitely part of the DeerLodge National Forest.

The road in is initially a bit wash-boarded with some rather large dips and stones, particularly near the cattleguard… However, when you turn off of the road that exits the freeway (Divide Creek Road) and continue up on to Fleecer Mt. Road, it gets much better.

There was one divot in the left side of the track on the way up, that could get sketchy with time… I recall it was a bit of a drop off on the left.

I didn't go all the way to the big open area, but took one of the first two spots I came to which were just before it (see Google map aerial). Actually, I just pulled into a flat area between two dirt roads. Don't need a camp fire ring tonight, so this is just perfect. Although there was a nice site right across from me, that did have a large fire ring.

Heard some folks taking a little target practice further on from where I camped… To be expected.

All in all, this is a really nice spot… I kind of prefer them just a bit closer to the road. But the silence up here is nice.

Two bars AT&T LTE --- F350 4X4 with truck bed slide in camper. Stayed one night.

Nice spot, went a little bit up the track and found a great flat area to camp. Road was in Ok shape for 2wd, just be careful after heavy rains. Few side by sides yee/hawing around. Just say howdy to your pardners and you'll be fine.

Report Check-In

As described! There are many places to camp in this area — particularly for smaller vehicles. Many have fire pits and are pretty level with shade too there are at least two larger areas that can easily accommodate larger campers

I spent a very peaceful three nights here. I was able to get up the gravel road in my RWD van with no problems just took it slow

Report Check-In

As described below, however this is a less rustic location. There are many well used campsites fairly close together. Did find garbage both inside fire pit and outside. Nice to have pretty good internet for reading about the hikes and the area. Definitely plan and full of birds.

Report Check-In

As described. Nice spot far enough from the interstate so no road noise, but close enough to not disrupt travel time. Only camper here @ 5pm. Ram 136” campervan, 4 bars Verizon LTE.

Report Check-In

A little bumpy road up but nothing too bad in our promaster.
Absolutely beautiful and fantastic verizon service! 3-4 bars

Report Check-In

We came up here in our 159” wheelbase ProMaster and it was an awesome spot. Road is in great condition and there are tons of places to park all sizes of rigs. We did have to drive up the road a bit farther from the waypoint to find a suitable place for our van to enter the camping area, but we found one just a little ways up the road. Quiet, beautiful scenery, and the road is in good shape. Great for dry camping.
