Only $8 in the off season.
There are several campsites that are level enough for a camper. Others are very small, more suitable for tents. Sites include picnic tables.
It's a quiet place, excellent dark sky, saw the Milky Way.
Cell signal is very patchy, worked one moment and then no signal the next.

Only 4$ if you have the America the beautiful pass. Self pay station by the park entrance.

arrived around 4pm on Tues and all sites were full. we drove east to blizzard Mt Road for a nice spot. then the property owner, Monty, showed up. he let us (2 camper vans) stay but begged us to post that others shouldn't stay there. we went back to lava flow in the morning and plenty of sites were available. it turns out we saw a couple big rigs that parked overnight in the visitor center parking lot. loved the loop drive on our bicycles.

Today, Thursday, September 7th, all the large sites were full by noon. Some larger trailers managed to squeeze in smaller sites, but many people were forced to turn around and leave without a site shortly after noon. But I've never seen so many large motorhomes with toads trying to get into an NPS campground b before.

Anyone in a camper van need not arrive that early.

Checkout is 11, but oddly many people did not leave until noon. No one was enforcing checkout time.

It’s cool camping in and around the lava rocks. Sites are small and close together. Although hot in the day, the wind picked up at night.

Sites are first come. People were still coming in after sunset and secured a spot.

Busy place. Water is turned on. Caves are open. Pay station is staffed.
