SITLA and State Sovereign Land. free camping, 14-day limit . Great spot near airport. Campsites near established fire rings. Beware of road when wet. Decent Verizon and AT&T service. Fun OHV trails. Great view of the night sky. Bumpy and dusty road but doable for a 30 ft rig. This site is much more preferable to some overpriced sardine-packed campground.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Great view of the night sky. Bumpy road but doable for a 30 ft rig. This site is much more preferable than some overpriced sardine-packed campground. Grateful to have an opportunity to sty here.
Report Check-Indecently flat dirt road. looks concerningly soft but it's actually quite dense. definitely don't need 4x4. 2bars LTE Verizon. you can hear the cars on the road but it's not too loud. some bugs but it's pretty baren around here so there aren't many. train can get loud...
everyone seemed to want to go to the second camping area very late in the night, including a semi truck with a generator. don't park at the second lot, even if you're alone, because you don't be alone for very long.
Report Check-InLocation: Super convenient spot to get into. Washboard road is a little rough, but easy enough to traverse — 2wd can easily do it. Pulled into the first available turn-in and had 5 neighbors.
Noise: Not up against the highway, but close enough to hear it. Not terribly loud.
Cell / Internet: AT&T: 2-3 bars (5G) 86 down / 4 up.
Honestly great to find an area with a connection given how spotty the rest of Moab is.
Report Check-InConvenient near Moab. Train comes by every once in a while and road noise but very nice. Stayed here a week with plenty of other travellers. Some nice hikes nearby.
Report Check-InPulled in here sometime near 10pm. It took me a while to find a spot that didn’t have a few parked already, but eventually I did. Road is real bumpy but passable for my Nissan Rogue. Once I was situated, it was a real quiet night.
Report Check-InStayed here for several nights while in the area. Definitely worth it for us to drive the extra miles to save the 15 USD it costs to stay at Utahraptor State Park.
No facilities, but quiet and beautiful. Very popular place to overnight, but everyone was respectful. Road is a little rough, but doable - saw plenty of big rigs, trailers, vans and RVs here, so it shouldn't be a problem for you either.
Once in a while a train passes by on the other side of the highway, but the further down the road you go, you will hear less of it.
Report Check-InStayed 1 night. Still free!! A lot of place, little bit noisy because of the truck traffic.
Report Check-InThis one is free. A lot of space. Road is desant, there is a 5th wheel, class c with trailer and jeep on it, vans and a test. so perfect spot for everybody 😀 .
if you have off-road 4x4 or dirtbike, I'm recommending Little Valey Trail, all the way to Klondike Bluffs Trail. Dinosaur tracks marked by stone circles. It is not super easy, super fun on my dirtbike.
Very wide open, little noisy with the highway so close. Plenty of wide open spaces and great Verizon connection.
Report Check-InWe stayed 5 nights within this BLM area. Not as packed as the BLM land closer to Moab. There’s lots of spots along the road with fire pits and great views all around. The road is pretty bumpy, but doable. Had 3-4 bars of Verizon service the whole time.
Report Check-InWindy but an OK spot for big rigs. Close to everything but also not in the middle of it.
Report Check-InGreat place. A little windy. Awesome night sky. No T Mobile service.
Report Check-InGreat spot near airport. Camp near established fire rings. Beware of road when wet. I got decent Verizon service.
