Description

Very easy straightforward place to boondock. Ask inside to overnight in their vast parking lot, and they will direct you to use the west side of the property for this (to the left, as you face the entrance). Parking lot was largely very empty of other boondockers. The only drawback to this one is the omnipresent train traffic that never lets up all night long & around the clock--bring your earplugs. There’s also nothing within easy walking distance, as far as food, drink, & bathrooms--although Cabela’s has all that inside. They are open 9am - 9pm, except Sundays when their hours are shorter.

clean parking lot beside highway and railroad.

Awesome stop to lotdock. We initially parked where there is tractor/trailer parking near the classic car museum, they directed us to the other side, we parked along the treeline. OK, the trains really pick up during the evening hours, and there are at least 2 opposing tracks. It does get noisy when they come by. We used a white noise app which helped quite a bit. During the daylight hours, they seem to be hourly, not 20-30 minutes apart. If you have limited power options, this may be difficult to deal with.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Checked in with the manager and she said it was Okay to put out slides. Plenty of room to park in their side parking lot. Open fields all around. Well lit at night. Felt very safe. Only negative would be freight trains passing by throughout the night. If you are a light sleeper it could be a problem.

Report Check-In

As said, there are a lot of night train here but at least they don’t seem to cross any roads (no loud whistle). We were here on a Sunday night

Report Check-In

as described, loud trains but otherwise only one other person. not much shade

Report Check-In

Previous description of this spot still accurate. Trains run all night but a white noise machine helps.
