Description

Large fenced campsite in the middle of a vast game farm with roaming free elands, waterbucks, impalas and other antelopes. Neat ablutions with hot water and flush toilets. Hot water at the dishing area. Wood and coal included. 10USpppn
No sign on main road, but an old steam machine on the eastern side. Call the manager ahead to have someone open the gate. Chris : +260 96 6866517

Activities : walking, game viewing at the waterhole or dam, swimming pool (but yet to be rehabilitated after serving as bream pound during covid time).

We decided to camp at the dam. No facility, but the toilets of the Dam Chalet if there are no guests.

I called the number as shown in the description of the place, staying at the entrance gate, which was closed. A young woman was at the phone without any English knowledge and did not open the gate.

Beautiful shaded campsite on grass, ablutions are clean and spacious, hot showers well-lit at night. Potable water from a deep borehole (the farm even sells the water to lodges). Great place, highly recommended. We paid kw 160 pppn.

Did not have a good night in Livingstone and decided on Mabula for our 2nd night on our way to Kafue. Nice quiet camp. Place seems deserted but call was promptly answered at the number provided and we were met at the gate by Bright who showed us to the camp. We did not book ahead of time so ablutions a bit unkept and not too clean. The water was off but friendly Solly soon got that sorted. It may be off season as the lodge was deserted. A much better option than anything on offer in Livingstone town. Pd 200 ZMK pp. A bit overpriced for what you get but will recommend as there are no decent options in Livingstone if you are on your way to or from the north on the T1. The supervisor, Joe, is a mine of information and a delightful man. Found out the next day that we should have asked to purchase biltong from the owners. If we should travel this way again en-route to Kafue, we would cross at Kazangula and stay at Camp Nkwazi, stock up in Livingstone and camp 1 night at Mabula and then the long but pleasant drive to Dudumwezi gate. The Choppies in Kalomo was better stocked than the Shoprite and Spar in Livingstone.

Chris changed pricing regime based on nationality. Westerners pay 15 dollar pppn and SADC people less. So if you like to pay more you are very welcome ag his place.

If you don’t have signal to call ahead to open the gate, you can continue on the main road North, take the first right just after the ladies selling tomatoes at the market, continue on the dirt road until you reach a gate, you can hoot and one of the workers will open for you.

We spent a very pleasant night also at the dam. However, the actual campsite is lovely too, nice grass with shade and braai / fire, and nice ablutions. Chris showed us the entertainment area with the pool. It’s beautiful! I do wish the pool was clean cos I would have loved to spend a day swimming and tanning there.
