BLM land- Dubois Dispersed camping in Idaho about 3 miles off of I-15 and ~90 miles East of the Craters of the Moon National Monument and 50 miles north of Idaho Falls. Nice open area. Free. 360 degree high views with mountains to the west. Easy access for anyone, although the dirt road coming in had some pretty deep ruts....but just take your time. Still at a little over 5,000 ft amsl. One other rig here. Area is fairly level. Pretty clean too, with a couple of homemade rock fire pits. Burn ban still in effect. No services, no shade, great for solar. VZW and ATT are both pretty fast here.... both around 30 mbps down/15 up. 12 TV channels on the OTA.
Great, convenient stop. There is a gas station with a small store at the exit and a couple places to eat in the small town of Dubois too. There is a 14 day max stay.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Great site, no shade or shelter from wind but fine this time of year. This is one of two carcasses on one side of the site, but I just parked on the opposite side.
Report Check-InSmall, dead end road. Private and quiet. Close to Dubois amenities. Road may be an issue if it’s been really wet weather.
Report Check-Innice quiet spot outside of Dubois. no fire rings that we noticed, nearby was unfortunately a spot where folks had been dumping garbage. Otherwise a beautiful spot to stop for the night.
Report Check-InSmall dead end dirt road. Isolated but near the highway, rest stop, and gas station.
Report Check-InNice spot to spend the night. Not very far off highway. 4 bars 5 G with T Mobile.
Report Check-InIsolated, one small lot that was very overgrown. Would work in a pinch
Report Check-InEasy access, short barely rutted road, to a small private area. Great for a one night stop. Previous directions from an earlier post was spot on! Beautiful sunset and sunrise. Windy and dry. Perfect. Checked via FreeRoam and it is indeed BLM. Ike’s Store at the turnoff has everything you need including an amazing little gift shop and great coffee.
Report Check-InEasy off the highway down a short stretch of dirt road. Open clearing on public land. No facilities, but gas station & store 3mi away. Three bars on Verizon. Quiet, great stop for the night.
Report Check-InGood spot, great cell service, nice and quiet. There is really only one large place to park about a quarter mile off the road. There is a fence at this point, so nowhere else to go. Lots of room to turn around there though - we have a dually truck and 38' fifth wheel. The road is rutted, but fine going slow. I would definitely not try it or stay there if there was a chance of rain or if it was wet. The road going in would probably be next to impassable if it was wet or muddy.
Report Check-Innice quiet flat grassy area but very windy, not sheltered. was ok for the night.
