Description

*Overnight parking/camping is NOT permitted at this location.
.....
This is a small parking lot at the trailhead to Penny Lake Preserve. There aren’t any signs saying no overnight parking - so I gave it a go & didn’t run into any issues! No bathrooms, but a strong cell signal (Verizon) & was very quiet the whole night (some walkers using the trail arrived around 7am). A good little spot for stealth camping.

Very quiet. Slept there in my car and there was another car with a rooftop tent.

Great spot. Got here about 8:15 pm, no one else here. Another van drove up about 9 pm. Great trail to walk on as well. Very close to town.

Nice trailhead parking lot! Almost completely level and a good place to spend the night. As others have said, it’s down the same road you take to get to the Carousel Theater; I had some trouble finding it at night but finally pulled into the right drive when I mapped it to the Theater rather than the given coordinates.

Had no problem staying from 8p-8a. I liked that it’s off the road but still close enough to town where you can see lights through the trees, so it wasn’t pitch black at night. Hikers showed up at 7a to use the trail but I didn’t see anyone else all night. I’d definitely stay here again!

The drive back to the spot is the same drive into the Carousel theater. It's a bred barn building. Right now work is being done on the trail. A couple small machines and a pile of gravel in the trailhead parking lot. Still room for us. The lot has a little slope so we parked more on the road. Irving gas station almost across the road has restrooms.

Drive down a dirt pathway behind the music theater to trailhead. Was empty when we arrived around 9pm and next morning one other van. Very quiet area and nobody bothered at all. No issues

Sign says no camping but nothing about overnight parking. We stayed 1 night without an issue. Hikers arrived early for trail. Only light visible is at motel next door. Dark and could see stars and fireflies at night.

Great place for a night. It's quiet and set back from the main road, no lights. Heard a few hikers in the morning but no issues.

Quiet location on a trailhead. No signs with restrictions on overnight parking, less than 5 mins from downtown. Super convenient. only heard a few hikers around 7am and then no one else. We were the only ones in the lot.
