This is a wonderful boondocks place. We just heard coyotes howling. Very private sites each site is far from each other. it is wonderful.
Report Check-InThe area to left (by the lake & boat launch) does not appear to be a dispersed camping site. The area to the right (with the pit toilet) is a parking lot.
There are 6 nice, actual dispersed sites as you continue down the road. 5 are in beautiful grassy areas with wildflowers and one smaller spot is surrounded by trees. We have stayed at 2 different sites and very much enjoy this state forest.
When you arrive at these coordinates from Grace’s Lake Road, turn left for tiny boat launch (pictured), right for pit toilet, or stay straight for dispersed sites with a bit more privacy. Mosquitoes are indeed plentiful, and so is the solitude. I stayed by the boat launch for 24hrs and only saw three other cars: kayakers, people playing with a water spaniel, and somebody taking pictures. This is a truly gorgeous—and weirdly underused—gem!!!
Report Check-InStayed for one night. Pulled in and car camped where the open area with the toilet was. The place was littered with peoples garbage. I cleaned up what I could fit into one of my biodegradable KNW bags. Three large trucks with trailers pulled in around 9pm and left shortly after. Overall, a great place to sleep and I slept like a rock during a rain storm. 1 Bar of T-mobile service here and there depending where I held my phone. The lake was a beautiful view in the morning also.
Report Check-InIt was stunning in the snow! so quiet, I had to leave because it only had 1 bar of 4g verizon but likely could have been better on another service. Highly recommend if you don't need to work.
Report Check-InThe original cords are for a boat ramp If you go straight instead there are multiple dispersed sites down the road a mile or two. We stayed one night, but had to run because of incoming weather.
