Best site in the area. It’s free, well-maintained, remote and on the water. A few farms around, a few fishermen and kayakers during the day, but we had it to ourselves at night. Talked to the locals and it’s a free campground, tents/fires allowed, and sometimes a ranger comes by to check in. Okay fishing and pet friendly. Garbage can buy no water, however there is a school athletic field 5 mins away with free water. T-Mobile, 5G UC no problem
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
as described. park rangers came by in the morning. portapotty and trash cans.
Report Check-Invery nice and quiet. surprisingly not many bugs out there at night.
Report Check-InBeautiful as described, geese, lake, and solitude. 5 cars here right now, but several are fishermen's cars. We took the KY Scenic Byways from the east and glad we did, as scenery is incredible. Highly recommend this as one of your stops.
Report Check-InQuiet and pretty. There are huge numbers of Canada geese and their poop is everywhere so watch your shoes! No designated campsites, just a largish open grass space to park. The sign at entrance says tents and open air camping only so be discrete if you’re in camper van. Not intended for trailers or large rigs. Many locals come to fish all times of day and night but we were not disturbed at all and were the only overnight stays. Port a potty is clean enough and has a sink with water to wash hands.
Report Check-InGreat place. Beautiful body of water with plenty of primitive camping area. Be sure to get a free permit. The only draw back is all the duck/geese poop, just watch your step.
Report Check-InNo amenities just peace and quiet! You can stay two consecutive nights. Obtain a permit (no charge) online. Second time here. There is a portapotty at the entrance. No gas-powered craft are allowed in the water, but kayak to your hearts content.
Report Check-InNice place to spend a few days. Only ones I have seen are local Fisher men. So if you fish, get your poles ready. The fish have been jumping. It's clean and nice place to just relax.
Report Check-InJust as described possibly better! So peaceful and lots of Canadian geese. Plenty of room not to be next to anyone. No hookups. A portapot as you enter, and a trash can by the boat ramp.
Report Check-InSame as the other reviews, if you come in at night it can be a bit sketchy; but this is our second time here and it's one of our favorite places to stay when we're in the area. The view and location are incredible, and they've added a porta-poti!
Report Check-InI’m feeling so lucky about this spot. It was seemingly very sketchy at first where I almost didn’t commit to the narrow paved road; but, man I’m happy I did. They have a QR code because you’re required to have a permit for your stay- but it’s still free! You can stay up to two nights and it’s LOVELY
Report Check-Invery cute little lake. Porta potty and small trash can. good amount of local daytime traffic. 2 night limit.
Report Check-InWe drove in pretty late and even though the area was pretty creepy at night, it was beautiful in the morning. Long gravel road in near private property but signs are clear. Entry signs have a QR code where you can register your vehicle for specific dates, but the limit is two days. There were a few cars parked but both left near midnight. No sites, so we parked off the side as we had seen other vehicles do. Even though it is near the lake and it has probably rained recently, the ground was packed. No camping rules were posted but we looked up the city ordinance, which gave a description of vehicles that are not permitted on the grounds. Fishing from the lake is encouraged here and there are boat ramps for craft with electric motors.
Report Check-InGreat spot, out of the way and quiet. Free, but a sign asks you to register on the park website if you’re staying overnight.
Report Check-InThis was an incredible quiet spot on the water. We got in around 6pm and left around 8 the next morning. Only on other van, beautiful views and large area for other campers. 10/10 would recommend this spot.
