This is a Riverside County campground that's close-in to the city but has a pleasant pastoral feel. They advertise a lake but frankly I'd call it a large pond. Many sites have shade trees, but there isn't much in the way of privacy between sites. Rates are steep for me but probably an ok deal for the area: a basic site (electricity, a picnic table, unpaved) is currently $40. Full hook-ups are $55.
There are two camp areas right next to each other: Cottonwood only allows RVs, while Lakeview allows everyone. There are also some small cabins.
There are showers ($0.50/3 minutes, tokens required), flush toilets, and theoretically somewhere there is a laundry room, since they gave me a door code for it.
You can fish in the lake. CA fishing license is required. I suspect this park is heavily used on weekends.
There is a gate that closes pretty early (6:30 or 7) but they give you a code for it at check-in so you can come and go later than that.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This is a Riverside Co. run park. It has a full water park for kids and a man-made lake. The park itself is beautiful. The people who camp there are not as nice. They have no respect for keeping it clean as there was a ton of trash just in our immediate space. At night, a large fight broke out and we actually took cover because I anticipated there might be shots fired - luckily there weren't any. Maybe we just picked a bad day, but we're not going back anytime soon.
Report Check-InWhat a beautiful park! Come early to enjoy the scenery or fishing, and if you have kids there is lots of fun to be had
- playground, splash pad, mini golf and disc golf. Run by Riverside County.
this camping is a gem :) very relaxed and beautiful with lots of space. we tried camping in orange county and came back here, it's the best place.
