Official NF campground just 20 mins from the Winding Stair scenic drive. Pit toilets, picnic tables and fire pits. There are about 13 sites, very quiet save for ATVs running through on weekends. Semi-abandoned so there is no fee box or pay station. Don't trust Google maps to get here - follow the paved road past the RV park, onto the gravel section. At the fork with the campground sign turn LEFT. Hikers: pass through the campground and continue straight 1/4 mile to the trailhead (on the right) for the 8 mile Billy Creek loop, which follows the white and yellow rectangular blazes.

billy Creek is a great primitive campground. there's plenty of space for bigger vehicles. Each space has it's own campfire ring and the creek itself is right next to the grounds. IF your wanting a quiet stay I wouldn't suggest the weekends however. The Billy Creek recreation area is in the same area and people are out on utvs until quite late at night. Between custom exhaust and the stereos it was pretty loud.
