We used Standwell too. Would recommend . Found dealing with him via what's app easy. Advantage with a driver is the height of the vehicle (first time we haven't self driven and hadn't realised !), info from other drivers ( we saw lions up very close ... fabulous) and need a driver if you want to stay /visit camp after 6pm.

We organized a night drive with Kelvin, another guide, who charged us 80$ (excluding car fee and park entry fees) for 4 people. He is very nice and a very good driver. We will remember this night drive for a long time! 🦁

If you hire the whole car (up to 9 people) and want a whole day Safari from 6am until 6pm it costs 200 USD.

But we cousins book with Standwell as the message exchange was super slow (he replies a day later) and the communication was a little difficult over Whats App so it took about 20 messages to get a price from him.

Would have booked with Standwell if we had the info sooner. We went with cheesy, same price but safari finishes at 7.30pm so you also get a spotter at night with light!

Did 2 drives with Standwell. Morning and night. He does go the extra mile to make sure you get your moneys worth! We paid $85 flat fee for the morning and same for the night drive. Happy to have chosen Standwell. He even collected and brought us back to Wildlife campsite.

He helped us finding a place to spent the night far from the excesive price of some lodges (we did morning and night safari with him so we left the place very early and arrived when was dark).

Well equipped with long distance focus and an asistant guy who help him!

Standwell is a fantastic guide! super knowledgeable about the park and all it's animals, birds, trees etc.

We did the morning and night drive. Paid a good price for both which was cheaper than the lodge.

Standwell has a good relationship with other guides so they all share information about sightings and maximise the chances of seeing something exciting. Across the two drives we saw lion (including a tiny cub), a leopard, a huge herd of elephant, a herd of giraffe, many impala, puku, kudu, some genets, and more.

We organised two safari drives with Standwell. He is a very knowledgeable private guide (animal, birds, trees, etc) and knows south luangwa by heart.
I would definitely recommend to go with him when visiting, as he knows where to find animals and communicate with other guides to get the latest live (not sure if he is lucky, but we saw a lot with him 😉)
He did his best for the drives to search for animals and to please us. The family including our 3 kids were very happy.
This also a cheaper option than the lodges / campsite. We paid 1300 kw for the 4 hours. Park fees goes on top (30$ USD for international)
One of the best park we visited in southern Africa so far.

This works out cheaper than drives with some of the surrounding camps/lodges and you’re supporting the local community.

Private guide with safari vehicle can take you on daily drives to South Luangwa including a night drive. We chose to do two drives, one departing from the park gate at 06h00-10h00/11h00 and another departing at 16h00 until 20h00.

Please remember that the park is not a zoo, you aren’t guaranteed sightings. That being said, it’s an excellent park and with the network of guides around, you’re sure to see something amazing.
