We stayed 1 night at Red Oak Trailhead in Wayne National Forest. They allow free dispersed camping at designated trailheads for 14 nights. No reservation required. Not designated sites, but there were obvious areas where people had set up camp with fire rings. We chose this trailhead (there are a few on the drive in) because it seemed from the NFS website that this one allowed fire as they listed fire regulations.
Apparently it’s quite busy with ATVs here and people camping in summer, but there was only 1 other RV parked off the road a bit when we pulled in. You only need a permit to use the off road routes for ATVs, otherwise no permit necessary. Cleanest vault toilets we’ve used.

Stayed one night back in September and again last night. A nice spot just a few miles off of US 33. Great for passing through or checking out one of the local state parks.
Report Check-InGreat spot for dispersed camping, compatible moth all vehicle types, road is paved camp sites are gravel, multiple fire pits, good amount of solar for solar panel users
Report Check-InArrived late at night and aside from one or two bumps on the paved road to the top it was super smooth getting to the destination. Signs marked the directions frequently, camping area was gravel and flat. Very comfortable in our skoolie with plenty of room around us. Small Fire pits around the area for multiple sites, had one other camper in the area with us who stayed to themselves. Very quiet area and signage by the trailheads indicate camping is allowed for up to 14 days. pets allowed as well as long as they are quiet and respectful of others as well.
Report Check-InSimilar to the other trailheads in this OHV/ATV section of Wayne National Forest. Large gravel parking lot with several fire rings and pit toilets. We stayed here two nights and saw OHVs once, but I imagine it's busier at weekends and in summer. Beautiful spot, especially at night, so many stars.
Report Check-Invery nice secluded spot to camp. stayed here for 1 night. there is a bathroom but was closed.
Report Check-Instayed here last night . was pretty cold but is kinda close to the freeway. I could hear it some times. but was a great place to stay for the night. I was the only one camping in the 20 degree weather
Report Check-InVery quiet. Only 1 bar on Verizon. Clean pit toilet. 3 cars drove by overnight, no one bothered us.
Report Check-InHad 2 great nights here on a wed and thursday. 2nd night there were dirt bikes ripping through the woods at 1am but they didn't bother us. A local told me it will be very busy at the weekend so maybe best to avoid unless thats what you're after. Access via a single lane aspalted road, 30 footers and 5th wheels aren't uncommon here apparently but I'd say it's too tight unless you're a good driver.
Report Check-InVery comfortable, and after the motorcycles left at sunset it was completely quiet and private! Drove around and found a private spot.
