Description

This spot is just past the bridge 2 Aduana. If you blink you will miss it. It is just past the Aduana and to the left. Once you pass the through the Aduana make a U-Turn and you can Park in front of the building. The Banjercito is open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 2 pm. This is a good alternative to the office in Allende.

The building is harder to find now unless you know where to look. They are building a new building in from of the current one. There is a little lot on the right coming up from the Mexico side. It only fits about 20 cars. We went early on Thursday and it was near full. The return lane is gone so you have to leave the west end of the little lot and go through a gravely area used for construction. Don’t go past the lot or you might get stuck in the US border crossing lines. Downstairs first to start FFM then upstairs to pay for that and TIP. Then back down for stamps then back up to give papers.

They asked if I had copies then kept them so bring extra copies of all of your paperwork. We have more details on our YT post @MeanderingMaynards.

It was pretty smooth on a Thursday morning.

Shitty border (sorry) to exit Mexico. The Banjercito is open between 8am / 4pm.
But you can't return your TIP there.
You have to come back to Allende, 53 kms before.
It s just stupid !!!!

Crossing from Mex to USA - very seamless crossing and the drive to it was perfectly uneventful. **Make sure you stop in Allende at the Banjercito and immegration office if you are crossing to the USA on a weekend!** The offices are closed here on the weekends. Fortunately we realized that before passing Allende, but I could see someone burning 2 hours having to go back to do their paperwork.

Going from Mexico to US dealing with US border, small wait on a Sunday, like 45 minutes, but we didn’t mind! They definitely pulled us over to inspect our camper, but only took some food that we weren’t supposed to bring in. Didn’t ask any questions like they do at the Canadian / US border lol. The police office emphasized that choosing to go to Eagle Pass versus Colombia, Laredo and Reynosa was a good call, just to mention for anyone trying to decide.

So this is kind of funny and to be honest a bit typical of my experiences in Mexico. I recently crossed here and the man who inspected my vehicle kept asking question that didn't quite make sense like did I have proof I'd paid the taxes on my truck. I realized he thought I was importing the vehicle so I explained "no, tourista, I need to get a visa and TIP" he asked where I intended to do this, I said here! I had four different agents insist this was not possible but after I refused to go back they said I could leave the truck with them and try that building over there. Yep, sure enough, the big building 50 feet away on the left, that they work next to all day everyday is the place alright. When you go to that building the tourist visa office is the downstairs door on the left and the TIP office is upstairs, second to last office on the left.
