No overnight camping allowed. We were woke up & kicked out by police at 1:30am
Report Check-InKicked out at 1:30 am by two police officers. Very nice (even handed us our outdoor mat to save us the trip outside) but was told we were not aloud to park anywhere along that road. They advised us to go to the other nearby spot at Parrish Park just before the bridge. Was lots of other vans and campers there when we moved at 1:30.
Report Check-InSeemed too good to be true and it was. We were kicked off of Gator creek Rd at 1:30am. We were sleeping in our van and police woke us up and made us leave and said there is no overnight camping allowed.
Report Check-InPsssstt. Come closer. Listen up. This should be a secret. Every pull off along Gator Creek Rd is super cool. We stayed at the third pull off coming from the bridge. All sorts of birds, fish etc. We watched a dolphin or porpoise hunt the entire cove! Very quiet. Each pull-off is on the water and has awesome views. World Class is an understatement. Please be respectful. We picked up any garbage we could find. Leave it nicer than you find it. No problem. Arrived around 3 pm on a Tuesday. Stayed until 8 or 9 am next day. Great paddling, biking and walking. We will definitely return!
Report Check-InDrove up to the spot after dark and the road was roped off. Not sure if it’s roped off all the time or not. Had to move on to different spot.
Report Check-InGator Creek Rd. and Peacock’s Pocket rd - definitely some world class overlanding! Beautiful sunsets, sunrises, and moon rises over the water with lots of jumping fish and birds. There are about 7 pull-offs around the first Gator Creek Rd loop, but check out a map and you’ll see you can venture further for more spots and probably a bit more privacy.
If I I stay another night I will go further from the main road, as this is a popular fishing location so lots of activity around sunrise with people looking for a spot to pull off and fish. Is imagine this is less so the further out you go.
No shade, I’d imagine this is a winter-only spot if you don’t have AC.
I echo what the original poster said - be sure to remove your trash! I’m going to pick up all the old trash from my spot before I take off. Oh a bald eagle just flew over!
Report Check-InAwesome little spot, really quiet if you stick away from the riff raff across the street. Be respectful and pick up trash:)
