Good big open area for big rigs as long as you fit through the gate. Make sure to buy a permit online to use this land.
Report Check-InTerrain was rough, but manageable at a crawl. Decent TMobile 5G reception. Bounced between 3-4 bars on the router but had great latency/bandwidth. Steady infrequent road noise all night long if you're parked on the south side.
Report Check-InCamped at what looks like an OHV staging area. Quiet on a Sunday night. Turned off of W Tangerine at 32.4245929, -111.1145287 - through latched gate onto AZ state trust land. Sand road, packed to open area, YMMV. I felt safe with 4wd and maxxtrax but definitely scoped it out first. Check out google satellite for options.
Report Check-InTried to go here following the instruction 2 comments below telling to go by south (Tangerine Rd). Google maps was still telling to go north even close to it.
South access is closed, dunno if it is the reason why Google told to go north. Don't know if you can access from north we moved to another spot.
Found a quiet place for the night, not far from Tangerine Road. No one else in sight on a Thursday evening. Some road noise, but it will probably die down by nightfall. Lots of space for bigger rigs as long as you pick the right dirt road. 2 bars of Xfinity cell service. Purchased AZ State Lands permit online and have a record on my phone in case anyone comes to check. Would come back here again.
Report Check-InThis was a beautiful place just off the freeway. Don’t use google maps as it will take you in from the north end and it’s a 20-30 minute drive on a dirt road. If you come in off Tangerine Rd it is a 5 min drive in.
Report Check-InIt's open. no signs of any closure. good cell signal and very close to town. maybe too close. lots of ATV trails but I only hear one on this Saturday at noon.
Report Check-InThe gate entrance to this place is closed and chained up as of this moment afternoon of Jan 13, 2022
Report Check-InGot to the gate And the gate had multiple locks on it with signs no trespassing
Report Check-InA number of spots for vans or cars alongside the power line road. The road is in fairly decent shape with bumps and dips. A two wheel drive vehicle with normal clearance can easily make it. However, it probably wouldn't be wise to try it if it has rained in the previous few days.
I stayed here a couple nights. It was peaceful and quiet with the calls of the coyotes in the distance. You can also hear the low grade hum of the interstate and trains about two miles away.
Also, there are lots of stores, restaurants, gas stations, the library, etc., just 10-15 minutes away.
I saw a couple motorcycles and ATV's and I suppose there might be some also on the weekends and holidays. It also appears to be a hunting area during hunting season.
The area is behind a gate. Simply open it, drive through, then close the gate behind you. This is Arizona State Trust Land, so you will need to buy an annual permit online to use the area. Don't have one? Buy it and download it here:
