Something not right?

Description

Nice quiet campground by new hogan lake. No hookups. There is a dump station and potable water. Also coin op showers. We saw about a dozen deer just before sunset.

Latest Check-Ins

Something is seriously wrong at this campground. I stayed 4 nights and it got weirder each day. A man in a dented-up black Escalade followed me around the park when I hiked, when I left my vehicle to get water and when I walked my dog. I contacted the park ranger and the sheriff but still had to leave because it was not safe. Female travelers this place has many, many red flags. And so much trash: a wig on a fence post, a broken chair under a bush, empty champagne bottle lying next to the road, a stray dog, stray cats. The shower doesn't have a shower head so it just pours water out of a pipe and then it doesn't drain so the whole bathroom floods. Very weird place.

very much a weekend. warrior campsite weekdays are pretty quiet, $20 a night water spigots available bathrooms with showers. currently the one I'm at the women's shower does not work

Beautiful sites but very often on a slope. The staff, hosts and rangers are very nice. The toilets are not clean. The cleaning team only signs the sheet, but does not clean anything. The showers do not work, except for one in the women's toilet. So the men went there too. You have to put 50 cents but they fall back so it's free. Very noisy weekend, people were screaming all night and we had our camping chairs stolen. It's better to go during the week if you want a quiet place. Lots of deer and walking trails.

Report Check-In

Mid-May and midweek rolled in at 3pm and was able to reserve a site once we found one we liked. Lake is low so getting to the water is a bit of a treck. Bathrooms are old but serviceable, some showers out of order and to get them to give you the promised 3 min for 50c you have to put 25c in both top and bottom at the same time. dead wood collection and buring allowed when we were here, low fire danger, not sure that's always the case.

Report Check-In

Mid-May midweek pretty quiet, rolled in and booked a site that was unoccupied. Bathrooms were a little rundown but functional. Showers are a little weird, you have to put 25c in both top and bottom slot at the same time to get 3 min of water.

Went last weekend in April, busy but quiet. Nicely spaced and shaded spots, mostly unlevel, bathrooms ok, nice trails and rolling meadows. Lake is sadly very low. $20

There are some Pros and Cons about this place.
The Pros:
- 20 $ for a big spot with firering, grill and bench
- reservations through recreation.gov
- dump station, but without potable water
- restrooms with hot showers, 50ct/5 mins
-trees for shade, nice lake
Cons:
- busy, loud place at least on weekends
- restrooms and showers run down, not all of them work
- you need a water thief and a long hose for potable water for your RV
