$23 Reserve online at Rec.gov. No FCFS! Dry camping in heavy trees, with potable water, toilets, (no soap @ sinks), trash, and sani-dump at entrance. Typical site amenities, and nice tent pads. Hammocks allowed. It’s September, and mornings are 43-45°, and no sun over the ridge until about 10am. To me, sites are crammed together, with no privacy. Many are un-level ( some are really bad!) and trees make it tight for bigger rigs. Showers are hot, but only 3 for an entire 200+ site CG. Hosts on site enforce the rules. Be prepared to put your grills and literally everything away every time you aren’t actively using them. Generator hours are very limited- YAY!! We had highway noise, (construction vehicles) and often noisy during the night as they are paving . Not the best NP CG I’ve been in, but it served it’s purpose to keep our driving to a minimum, plus very inexpensive considering the options. We had zero Verizon except at the visitor centers. Shuttle reservation system ends tomorrow, (the Sunday after Labor Day), but shuttles still run on a limited schedule ending Sept. 17th. FYI, 9 mi of a dirty, dusty or muddy, gravel and dirt road during construction from Apgar to Lake McDonald Lodge. The crowds are still here so be prepared for long waits and limited parking.

Report Check-In

Booked same-day, got the only site available. Got in very late, but the host was still super nice and helpful. Clean campground, beautiful night sky! And you'll be able to get to Going-to-the-Sun road with your campsite reservation - would recommend!

Report Check-In

Nice campground. Got the last available spot. Very busy and full in the summer during the weekend.

Report Check-In

was able to book this just a few days prior to our arrival date, by continuing to check rec.gov for cancellations, so don’t be discouraged if you’re trying to book a site. the sites are huge. you definitely don’t feel like you’re on top of other campers. plenty of trees for hammocking. you can walk via the bike path to West Glacier or Apgar Visitor Center or Apgar Village, it’s a lovely dog-friendly stroll. the free hot showers are so appreciated, although there are only 3 individual shower stalls for the entire campground (only 2 were working on our second night), but we didn’t experience any long lines while showering between 6:30-7:30pm. the bathrooms are clean, although they don’t have soap, which is frustrating. potable water. no at&t, even tho our phones randomly say we have 2 bars.

Report Check-In

Shaded sites with some room unlike Fish Creek which is packed in. Clean and well maintained. Bike trail to visitor center and the village. Road construction right out on the main road is a dirty mess. Spotty Verizon

Report Check-In

Nice campground to base out of for Glacier NP. Was able to score a last minute spot on the rec.gov app for multiple nights. Use the shuttle unless you can get up really early as parking on the going-to-the sun is limited. Wi-Fi at the Lodge by the lake: Pursuit, pursuit!…sit outside office on deck.

Report Check-In

Beautiful. Quiet and one bar Verizon. Can walk to Apgar Village, visitor center and Lake McDonald.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place, in the middle of the trees which can be a problem if you are like us and work remotely bcs Starlink never worked ☹️

Report Check-In

A beautiful park, serene forest. Only a few campers here before season officially starts..all loops open, but maybe 15 campers. Great place for a few nights. Must reserve online. Most sites are fairly spacious.

Report Check-In

Our site on C loop was quiet and level. Fire ring. Bathroom and a wash room for dishes. Only shower is in A loop and does experience some long lines in the evenings (3 stalls, no lines if you went by 4p). They don’t want any waste water (even wilderness wash) at the sites, so plan accordingly if you would usually shower outside. You need to bring your own soap for the restrooms. We almost never stay in established campgrounds, and this was a great experience.
We happened to book the last day of the reservations season, which meant we had dibs on the spot when the “first come” slots opened …we ended up staying 4 nights! 1 bar LTE Verizon.

Report Check-In

Everything has been wonderful here. Dear are roaming throughout the campground and other wildlife. It is quite tranquil and the views next to the campground are absolutely stunning.

Report Check-In

Very nice camp ground. The hosts were super friendly and informative. HAS hot showers and bathrooms. Showers are each private with a mirror and a bench. A place to fill up fresh water and multiple spouts. A place to do your dishes and a large trash bin for all sizes of trash. Will need a going to the sun road pass to get there. Apgar village is a 15 minute walk down a bike path and McDonald lake lodge is about 10 minutes of driving. Pet friendly campground. Verizon had Poor service and US Cellular had two bars decent.

Report Check-In

A loop was all that was open. Only 4 other vehicles in loop. Plenty of options.

Report Check-In

Plenty of sites. Downside is they don’t accept campers after 8pm. We arrived at 8:15pm & there were no fee envelopes.

Report Check-In

Incredible…………………………………………………………………………………………..

Report Check-In

Every loop except D is open. Showers working. First come first serve. pretty nice spaces.

Alright my friends, here is the going to the sun ticket info.

You do not need a ticket to be on the road if you take the east entrance (no pay booth) or arrive after 5pm. then go stay in first come first serve in this camp ground. You will not be asked for a ticket anywhere if you don't leave the park. The main west entrance they literally have check points set up. A ranger explained to us how stupid the situation is.

Report Check-In

Not sure why it’s marked closed. Used it today. Everything works, potable water too, I think it’s free if you don’t camp to

Report Check-In

Open a loop and e loop, first come first serve. 20$, believe its considered winter now and primitive starting may. Right now there is flush toilets, no showers. Loop on their site for primitive details.

FYI : most of the park is sadly shut off, only 10 miles of road is open

Report Check-In

Stayed in loop B and it was a nice stay. Was primitive with only pit toilets and pump water, but there were also bear lockers, fire rings, and trash dumpsters which was nice.

Report Check-In

This campground is Open. It is FREE in the winter and nobody was around. Pit bathrooms are open and roads are plowed of snow. A few hiking / snow shoeing opportunities in the area, especially off the Going to the Sun Road at the Lake McDonald Lodge. 4G cell service is good.

Report Check-In

This place is permanently closed.

Great campground! A couple of things to clarify... At Apgar campground there are showers offered (free) in the A Loop. These showers are for all Apgar campground patrons. There are only three, so often a line in the evenings.
The shuttle (free) offers many stops from Apgar to St. Mary’s at the east end of the park and is a great way to access hikes as parking is sometimes impossible.
Apgar has an amphitheater which offers a talk every evening at 7:30
Portable water is offered throughout the campground, but a dump station AND potable water refill for tanks is available at the main entrance of this campground.
Considering the price of surrounding camps outside the park and direct access to free shuttles in the park this is a great price.

Report Check-In

Great little camp spot . Arrived late and was greeted with plenty of other campers with there fires roaring . Pricey considering no showers or fire wood . But flushing toilets and running drinking water . $20 USD per night .
