Description

Run by Osmar and his wife Roseli out of their home. He's been a guide for 20 years and is great. Very nice. They speak only Portuguese. They charge R$70 per person to camp with three meals a day. Very good home cooked meals. (You can also stay without meals). There's plenty of space in the grassy yard to park. Two clean bathrooms with hot electric showers. Osmar charges R$130 per day to guide, for up to 5 people. (Note: Pousada São Matheus a bit further north seems to be bigger and might have more travelers to share the guide fee with)All the caves have stunning formations. Our favorites were São Bernardo (4 hour outing) and Terra Ronca (5-7 hours to do caves 1 & 2). Both are adventurous - with rivers rushing through them. We got wet up to our waists. TR has a beautiful canyon between the two caves. Angelica is dry and easier. Also beautiful, but it's an hour drive from the pousada.

We stayed here 1 night in our Van and enjoyed the nice location, nice garden, grassy area and nice people. 3 meals included it was 100 pP. to camp, good meals included. The price for a guided tour was 200 per Tour. We have done the Sao bernardo tour with Osmans son and liked the experience walking through the cave through the river. Nice, interesting tour. Recommended.

(Note: road to the area terra ronca was so , so. was doable for us in a 2 wd in dry weather but not too easy)
